Am I the only person who doesn't give a shiat what John Edwards says?

No, but there are 26 people who do give a shiat what he says.

It's rude to give shiats. I mean, unless you're a fertilizer salesman giving to charity or something, you should keep shiats to yourself.

No, your not. However those blue collar workers Hillary has been trying to get might. Also those 26 pledged delegates he won might care, not that they are bound to vote for anyone now, but it might influence them a bit.

King_Web [TotalFark] 2008-02-17 06:03:07 PM
Well, that's nice and all, but isn't Edwards out of the race to begin with because nobody cared about what he said?

This is a little like having the Coal Miners Union endorse a particular brand of windshield wipers. Who cares?

DamnYankees: Am I the only person who doesn't give a shiat what John Edwards says?

I certainly don't, but the blue collar types in Ohio who fall hook, line, and sinker for his populist, anti-globalization bullshiat certainly do. Obama could REALLY use his endorsement, despite the fact that he's pretty much seen as slime with anyone with a slight bit of education.

Barack: "John, let's be serious here - Hillary cannot possibly win the general. All Republicans hate her, most Independents don't like her, and a good deal of Democrats want something other than the Clintons back in power."

John: "I know all that - but that's hardly the point."

Barack: "Then what is the point?"

John: "The point is they still wield a lot of power, and a lot of people owe them a lot of favors. If she calls in those favors and they don't come through for her, there will be repercussions like we've never seen before."

Barack: "Yes, but are they really all going to let her run the primary and lose so she can satisfy her ego and avoid their wrath?"

John: "They're kind of in a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't kind of situation here, Barack. You can see that."

Barack: "So, what, I wait until 2012 just because she's so damn full of herself?"

John: "Looks that way. Don't worry. In 2012 you'll be a shoo-in."

You ought to. Edwards is effectively a superdelegate*27 (I'm pretty sure he's an actual superdelegate plus he can swing the 26 he actually got pretty easily, I think).

SilentStrider: so Edwards delegates go to Obama then?

Yes. The party bosses (super delegates) will throw their votes to Obama.

Most of the undecided party bosses are going to go to Obama too. No matter how badly they may want to re-elect Bill elect Hillary, they will be forced to back the will of The People. It's obvious that Obama has more popular support and if the party bosses piss on their base and push through Hillary, it will come back to bite the Democratic party in the state and local elections this year and in 2010.

But Hillary can still buy Diebold and steal the votes that are cast for Obama, so who knows.

November is a long way off.

If you think that the Democratic party is going to go with Hillary JUST to satisfy her...you have another thing coming.

People like Bill. He made them feel good. They could forgive him for being an asshat. Hillary isn't Bill. Many of them hate what she stands for... Democratic In Name Only.

Not quite. They are free to vote for who ever they want at the convention. Bu, in theory if they are really big Edwards supporters and Edwards says he likes Obama then most if not all of them should go to Obama, its just not guaranteed.

Though it makes more sense that he will endorse Hillary, his opinion will likely sway few people to vote for her. I guess she'll have to lie cheat and steal.

This coming from a Hillary supporter.

As close as the delegate count is, every endorsement is important. If for no other reason, to sway super delegates.

that, and for the amusement factor when we see Hillary try to spin this.

diamond2a 2008-02-17 06:56:14 PM
I don't think Obama needs this endorsement, but I wouldn't mind it. Anything to wrap this thing up sooner. I can't see any scenario that leads to Hillary being president (except maybe McCain dropping dead in September), and at this point all she can do is damage, and lots of it.

There are two Banthas down there but I don't see any ... wait a second, they're democrat candidates all right. I can see one of them now.

Doesn't the timing of this meeting seem a bit strange? I assumed Obama would be in Wisconsin until the primary there, doesn't this meeting detract him from doing some campaigning?

Superjoe 2008-02-17 07:01:17 PM

Agreed. Everytime she or Bill comment on Obama, they seem to dig themselves into a deeper hole.
