You knw who else used zippers in the Pacific right around that time? The US Army, Navy, Air Corps and Marines during WWII. Much more likely that it came off of one of the thousands of pilots who crashed/were shot down in the Pacific during WWII.

She didn't crash. She landed there deliberately, and after sampling the local male wahngooboo, decided not to return to America. Amelia was a very lusty woman, and learned it's true what they say : Once you tried the Nikumaroro, nothing else will do do. The zipper is actually off her pants, which she never wore again.
