You're toast Hillary, move on.

I like what she's saying there.

Hillary's main tool in dealing with large corporations would include a nice big sloppy blow job. She was on the board of Wal-Mart, for Christ sakes. She'll pull her pants down for a large corporation faster then even her husband would.

"My opponent gives speeches, I offer solutions. It doesn't matter that the solutions are flawed and based more on focus groups and polling data than actual thought, or that my speeches wouldn't excite a cat in a catnip factory, the point is that I really want to become President.”

Nabb1 [TotalFark] 2008-02-17 09:48:55 AM
And yet, there are people who will believe her when she says it.

Snarfangel [TotalFark] 2008-02-17 09:58:37 AM
BTW, has anyone asked her, "Senator Clinton, you have some impressive ideas for legislation. Is there any reason why they weren't proposed and passed during your husband's administration?"

Generation_D [TotalFark] 2008-02-17 10:12:27 AM
There's a real good reason for her ideas never being passed: Republicans in congress.

Generation_D: There's a real good reason for her ideas never being passed: Republicans in congress.

The first two years of Clinton's administration had a Democratic House and Senate. If Hillary expects a leisurely eight years to do what she wants, then perhaps someone with a bit more sense of urgency should be President.

Mugato [TotalFark] 2008-02-17 10:39:18 AM
I wish people would just call her Hillary. When I see Clinton I think Bill and that's not going to change.

Luckily she won't be in the public eye much longer so it won't matter.

however, she gets most of her money from lawyers.

Because by checking her donor records, now she knows who they all are and where to find them.

In fairness, Obama looks basically the same in that regard.

Hillary's campaign has amazingly combined all the worst parts of the Gore and Kerry campaigns and all the cynical realpolitik parts of the Bush campaigns.

"Well, he told people he stood up to the nuclear industry and passed a bill against them. But he actually let the nuclear industry water down his bill - the bill never actually passed."

Obama is obviously a fraud if he wasn't willing to put a gun to each Rep and Senator's head and say, "you'll vote for this- exactly like it is! You change a word and you take a dirt nap!"

I meant the corporate contributions are not very different. I did not look at individual contributions.

I don't think there is a huge difference between O and H, but the differences that do exist are profound enough for me to support him.

True, but 1% of her's is from PACs. He still is better in this regard of course and I give him high marks for this, but she's not exactly raising a huge eyebrow over here. The fact that he basically does not take money from PACs is a huge point, however.

Memo To Hillary: Desperation is never appealing, especially in a politician many people didn't like to begin with. It's over Hillary. Unfortunately for you, you've staffed your entire campaign with sycophants and yes men, all of which are afraid to tell you so.

The parallels between Hillary and Bush just continue to pile up. It would almost be funny if it wasn't so disturbing.

lelio 2008-02-17 11:21:50 AM
"We'll take on the credit card companies so that you and your families aren't drowning in debt. Here in Ohio, payday lenders are actually taking Social Security checks from our elderly. That's outrageous.

Yes it is, but for a different reason. It isn't the payday loan stores fault that these people are in a bind. Of course it is easy to make them the debil and drum up support for her campaign based on this.

Darius Harris: FTFA: "Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) trashed an array of corporate interests in an economic speech in Ohio Thursday, vowing that as president she would go after oil, credit-card, insurance, pharmaceutical, investment and loan firms."

What's the matter, Hillary? They didn't pay up on their pledged donations to your campaign?

I_Hate_Iowa 2008-02-17 11:28:46 AM
FTFA: "Today, I'm announcing an agenda to reign in the special interests...

"Rein in." She's going to rein in special interests, much like you would rein in a horse, Mr. Copy Editor. Why can't I find a job doing this sort of thing when the people doing it now suck so much?

Also, I don't believe her when she says she'll rein in special interests.

I_Hate_Iowa 2008-02-17 11:33:04 AM
Also, why the hell do politicians say "My opponent"? Do they really think we'll forget the name of "their opponent"? It makes it seem like they've forgotten the name of their opponent.

Clinton now trying to position herself as the best candidate to take on big business and special interests

A seemingly innocuous enough statement until it's viewed through an innuendo filter. Then you'll see the hidden images of a beefy matron with a complexion of a skinless poached potato rolling onto her tummy folds to thrust into the air a pocked and mottled hind to "take on big businesses" while on the far side of the thick thorax the head mechanically tilts upwards revealing above the wrinkled vellum of dangling wattle a slowly gaping maw like a fleshy iris opening for "special interests".

Does that mean, in order to be moral, they have to profess a belief in god and say his commands guide their decisions, or something less asshatish than that?

God told me to invade Iraq

So it looks like roughly $50 million of interest group money for Hillary, and roughly $4 million for Obama.

No difference at all.

Please help - I'm trying to do some calculations here...

If Hillary has 8 years of experience in the white house as the first lady...

1. Does that mean Chelsea has 8 years also? And will she have 12 if HC wins?

2. And how many years does that give Monica, exactly - as the first mistress? (who probably spent more time in the Oval Office than Hillary for a while)
