While I don't agree with these actions, I think it was only a matter of time before some country came up with this "program."

We quarantine people with TB, why not AIDS?

seriously. I mean, on the scale of things, I'm surprised it took this long.

(FDR did that too...)

Jeebus! It's not like AIDS is spread like a cold. There is no reason to lock em up when all they have to do is tatoo "AIDS" between their eyes.

While we're at it, let's quarantine homosexuals lest we catch the gay.

Do you think it'll be a final solution?

ThatsTremendous 2008-02-16 10:07:52 PM
dj_bigbird: We quarantine people with TB, why not AIDS?

Two reasons:

1. TB can be spread as an aerosol, HIV cannot.

2. AIDS is strongly stigmatized as being a disease of homosexuals. Make of that what you will in regards to rounding up suspected HIV-infected individuals.

DrForrester 2008-02-16 10:08:09 PM
Off to the special clinic, leaving their brothers behind?

US: Egyptian government please stop this cruel and inhumane act! Oh yeah here is your $1.3 billion of military aid and please torture these "terrorists" for us. Oh and we are still ignoring the fact that several of the 9/11 terrorists were Egyptian.

And then you know the rougher types will take care of the problem for you?

For ovious reasons it won't work in the west but there are plenty of places where this will work.

They've rounded up twelve people according to the article. For an evil government conspiracy they are off to a slow start.

Im pretty conservative myself, but god are there alot of trolls here (which is most likly) or are you serious. Marking AIDS patients is a horrible Idea, even fewer people who may think they have it will bother to get cheaked. I thought we in the US were past our scarlet letter days.

Those damn gay recruiters, impeccably dressed men with their fancy haircuts & their mixed drinks and lounge music interviewing potential candidates for the Gay Agendatm. The questionnaires take so damn long to fill out & you don't even get sushi.

Hell, I even kinda like "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" and they wouldn't even look at my damn application. Pricks.

So? Here in America, we round up suspected "terrorists" and send them to "special prisons".

Pot, meet kettle.

j0ndas 2008-02-16 10:16:27 PM
I don't think HIV-positive people should be put in mandatory isolation, but I do think that the current US policy of hiding people's HIV status, or not allowing employers to discriminate based on it if they find out, is retarded. Either it's an incurable, dangerous blood-borne disease, or it isn't. If it is, you sure as heck better announce who has it so that people can take precautions, and keep anyone with HIV away from sharp objects and open wounds.

I say set up a special city for the HIV-positive. At least they won't have to worry about infecting someone by mistake that way, and the rest of the population won't have to worry about getting infected. Doctors in the city will know to take special precautions, and can get hazard pay for serving there.

moral is, both TB and HIV are contagious, so quarantine makes sense.

gays can say they're being discriminated against, but if people have AIDS, then they can't biatch too much. after a cure is found, all will be well again

Jews are not a disease. Marking people with AIDS would only give the non-infected a way to not have sex with people who have AIDS. the mark wound not be visible to all people, it should be a tattoo or something on the ass or hip (visible before sex would happen, not visible to people on the street)

Screw quarint...quaran...

Screw segregating people with AIDS. Screw marking them.

How about we do something that will be much more effective and do mandatory AIDS TESTING?! THAT'S a good way to reduce the spread.

Wow. Just wow.
It's not easy to get AIDS.
My child has a disease that is FAR more contageous than AIDS. He has Hepatitis C. In the U.S., for every 1 person with AIDS, 5 have hep c. And by 2010, the yearly death rate from HCV will be surpass HIV/AIDS. He's 2 1/2, He got it from his birth mother in utero ( we adoptesd him) the "dirty" little boy should be kept away from all the nice "clean" people.

Emeraldstar 2008-02-16 10:24:01 PM
I am 100% ok with the quarantine of people with contagious incurable diseases/Virus. I also think that if some with a contagious virii/disease does something reckless the ONLY penalty that should be given is death.

The only problem with that is some people don't take off their clothes until it is dark. So victims wouldn't see it. How about stitching their anus shut and re-routing the colon to their sides so they can still poo?

No. And neither are homosexuals but we got a little pink triangle arm band to make sure we could be rounded up for the "re-education" camps.

Marking people with AIDS would only give the non-infected a way to not have sex with people who have AIDS.

If you don't assume every person you have sex with has HIV and every other STD imaginable and protect yourself accordingly then you richly deserve whatever you get.

Seriously.. we don't see people with your level of blatant stupidity that much anymore. You should probably be studied. But that might take awhile so please, for the sake of the gene pool:

You are trolling right? HIV/Aids does not discriminate based on sexual orientation and the majority of infections nowdays are thru straight people.

To all the people saying this is okay, just hope that an ex partner of yours doesn't ever contact you out of the blue telling you that you should be tested for HIV....

Hibno 2008-02-16 10:31:30 PM
I think most people who give somebody AIDS give it to them before they find out they have it. By the time you lock up AIDS victims, the damage has already been done. It's nothing but punishing somebody for contracting a disease.

Correct. You could have HIV for literally 10 years before even seeing symptoms of any illness.

what the hell. this isn't about being gay, it's about AIDS. i know gays were also persecuted by Hitler, but how is that relevant? and as I said, it would be hidden by clothing most of the time, so 99.999% of people would never know.
