If I recall, slavery was abolished in Great Britain in about 1820. The importation of slaves was abolished in the US also in about 1820.

Slave owners were a very small percentage of Americans. Slaves were extremely expensive and generally owned by only the largest of landowners. Add to that that plenty of white Americans are also descended from Europeans who arrived after the abolition of slavery, and it is highly unlikely that every white person in America is descended from a slave owner.

It's mostly western Africa, but, in general, slaves were bought from the tribal chiefs by the Spanish and Portuguese. If you really want a good look at horrible slavery, look at Brazil/South America. Those folks have a history of slavery you cannot imagine.
