The first Patton song that really got me? Cuckoo for Caca. Left me feeling like somebody hit me over the head with a frying pan. Been a masochist ever since, I just can't get enough of Mike's screaming.

Do yourself a favor and check out some of his other projects: Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, Tomahawk, Peeping Tom.

If you like Cuckoo for Caca, find his first solo CD, Adult Themes for Voice, or any of his work with John Zorn. Some would call it screaming, but it goes well beyond that.

Damn it. Read it wrong. Thought it was something about Faith Hill being strip searched . . .

Don't look at me I'm ugly in the morning.

Guys, if you like Patton/Faith No More, be sure to get to get his 'solo' stuff - tomohawk, fantomos, and peeping tom. the last is one of the best discs i picked up in a long time...

raiden23 2008-02-16 11:17:45 AM
My favorite FNM song.

monkeydoodledandy [TotalFark] 2008-02-16 11:58:20 AM
I have some Mr. Bungle, but will definitely have to check out Fantomas, Tomahawk and Peeping Tom.

As much as I wish there was more FNM, I'm glad they won't be bastardized shark jumping idiots like everyone else who gets too much commercial success. The minute I saw that fish jumping around I feared for their credibility. They weathered that and managed to stay cool.

I'll raise you; The tour I most regret not seeing; 1989 FNM (BEFORE they got huge), opening for VOIVOD, just after Dimention Hatross hit the streets. The butt boys/warm ups/nobodies in a van... SOUNDGARDEN.

I still hate myself for not going...

Saw them on their last tour before they broke up in Seattle. They opened with Midnight Cowboy....soooooo good.

Seen Tomahawk once, Fantomas 3 times...Fantomas is my favorite band to see on the planet. Love playing their CDs before the show to my friends who can't stand them, and than having them walk out of the show with a new favorite band.

You want to see how talented Patton is? Search youtube for "Fantomas Montreux Jazz Festival" and watch the entire thing. You have to watch a lot of it to appreciate the music because it is really the orchestration that is the amazing part of it.

I saw that bill when they hit NJ. It was an amazing show. I'm kinda sad FNM won't get back together, because Voivod proved you can come back and come back right.

Saw Mr Bungle at a small club in Sacramento, The Cattle Club back in 91ish. Cant remember exactly when, but it farking rocked!!!! Been out of the loop, will definitely be checking out some of the other stuff. Thanks Farkers!!!!

Saw FNM with Helmet at Western Illinois University. I called into work and told them I couldn't come in because I had to go buy tickets for it.

purvisxiii 2008-02-17 10:28:57 PM
Saw Bungle play two sets in 2001. Ate two dried grams beforehand. Saw Patton's halo as he sang Cole Porter with just percussion backing for a room full of aging metal dudes (who were rapt). Closed with Merry go Bye Bye.

Here's (new window) the closest I could find on youtube.

ElRonHubbardsBalls: They opened with Midnight Cowboy

I was at that show at the (Faith No) Moore Theater. Saw them a couple other times too.

Saw Tomahawk as an opening act about 5 years ago - I had never heard of them, and after a few songs realized that it was Mike Patton on stage - really enjoyed the set, too, and got the album afterwords. Would have been more impressed initailly, but the headliner was Tool, and that's a hard act to stand up to.

Mike Patton is King Midas.

Best song from Album of the Year. Faith No More rules.
