McCain encourages illegal immigrants to invade our country. Perhaps so he can form his own army of tobacco gardeners, construction workers, and painters to make a big statue of him?

What utter nonsense this ridiculous video blogger is blathering. Taking quotes out of context is completely infantile.

The "Bomb Iran" quote was McCain making a joke saying that everyone wants to bomb Iran. He wasn't saying he wants to bomb Iran, for crying out loud. If you listen to the rest of the quote you'll see that he's all for diplomacy.

As well, his "century in Iraq" quote is saying that the US has bases everywhere they have won, including Germany, Korea and Japan. We've been in Germany and Japan for over 60 years now, which is why it's not inconceivable that we could be in Iraq for a long time but not in a position where American troops are in harm's way.

This guy is a 'tard.

Headso 2008-02-15 01:49:24 PM
McCain knows we need that oil but the yahoos on the right wing need to be told we are protecting freedoms because they have a total disconnect when it comes to the idea of using our military to secure natural resources.

The yahoos on the left are slightly smarter, they have deduced that Iraq posed no real threat but they have a total disconnect when it comes to the realization that they use large amounts of oil.

It's so weird, but it is like some of the Republicans are already trying to sink McCain before his campaign even gets off the ground. He is probably the only Republican on Earth who has enough respect across the board to defeat a Democrat in this election.

I think McCain shot himself in the foot for the past 4 years, too. If he wanted to win, he should have been opposing Bush at every turn. He should have been a true voice of dissent in his party. Everybody knows that America is going to be looking for the polar opposite of Bush in this next election, and we've known it for years. If McCain wanted to win, he should have proved to us that he is the Republican anti-Bush, and not a party lap-dog.

And they want to use less oil so that this problem doesn't occur - crucial difference that doesn't seem to register with the folks who drive big SUVs with yellow ribbon magnets.

Last March

Q: "What about grants for sex education in the United States? Should they include instructions about using contraceptives? Or should it be Bush's policy, which is just abstinence?"

Mr. McCain: (Long pause) "Ahhh. I think I support the president's policy."

Q: "So no contraception, no counseling on contraception. Just abstinence. Do you think contraceptives help stop the spread of HIV?"

Mr. McCain: (Long pause) "You've stumped me."

Q: "I mean, I think you'd probably agree it probably does help stop it?"

Mr. McCain: (Laughs) "Are we on the Straight Talk express? I'm not informed enough on it. Let me find out. You know, I'm sure I've taken a position on it on the past. I have to find out what my position was. Brian, would you find out what my position is on contraception - I'm sure I'm opposed to government spending on it, I'm sure I support the president's policies on it."

/ Not terribly relevant, I just love to post it.

I work in one of the wealthiest, most liberal parts of western MA, and let me tell you, I see many giant SUVs driving around with "no blood for oil" and "impeach" stickers on them. Not to mention, it isn't just our cars, you can go to the grocery store on any day of the year and buy food from 6 continents. The total shipping miles on the food in your cart could be like you know, 100,000 miles or something..

Dude, McCain defended his "100 years in Iraq", as active duty military forces in numbers near 100,000, be it necessary for the "stability" of Iraq. Not as in "we might keep bases there forever", which he is also for.

As for Iran - what is his diplomacy? A continuation of this Arms race in the Gulf? Belittling a leader and his people (however much deserved it may be)? Calling eastern Asians 'gooks'? That's bound to win "friends" (to borrow from the parlance of McCain) in China and Korea. Telling the Afghani's that they should be "trading turbans"?

Yeah. But Pat Buchanan isn't sure that the Holocaust was such a big deal, or that it even happened. He has used his columns to praise Vladimir Putin's gutting of Russian democracy and complain that America was supporting the Ukrainian pro-democracy candidates. In other words, Pat Buchanan isn't a conservative in the American sense of the term. He's an old-school European style fascist. So, him saying that John McCain is "scary" is a bit rich.

Per capita usage and total use/state depend on a number of variables, but mostly geography and population density. So, you'll find many small, intensely-populated Eastern states have low per capita oil consumption, but virtually all the oil used in those states must be imported, because they produce very, very little, or none at all. It's kind of like people in Nebraska eating fresh seafood, if you see what I mean.

You can easily see that the Eastern States, while consuming half the petroleum used, produce less than 5% of the petroleum produced in the U.S., which translates to about 2% of the petroleum used in the U.S. That means that the rest of the states are roughly producing enough to cover their consumption, and that the Eastern States account for the overwhelming majority of imported petroleum.

So, if we're in Iraq to maintain our access to imported petroleum, it's because of the people east of the Mississippi River. How about that?

I think I would attribute it to large percentage of the population taking trains into NYC to work and the lack of, although no complete lack of, farming. Although, Ct. does get cold in the winter and fuel oil is needed.
