How will taking away their stories hurt the democrats?

The extreme left has already destroyed the Democrat party. Not much more she can do to it now.

Wow, somebody's got their big boy troll pants on today.

Hey, the GOP proved how effective that can be.

EvilEgg [TotalFark] 2008-02-14 10:51:07 AM
Ahhh getting Florida and Michigan's delegates counted even after they said they wouldn't. This might work in the Republican party where "whatever it takes" is supported by a large percentage of their base. But the Democrats have a more "lets be fair to the little guy" attitude.

Yeah, a party that controls both houses of congress, has a majority of governorships and has a chance to regain the presidency is in terrible shape. Way to stay true to your Core values.

It takes a party to destroy a party, and the Dems are working hard at it.

/not everything can be blamed on Hillary

The GOP was in terrible shape while it still controlled Congress and the White House.

I'll vote for either Obama or McCain, in that order. Never Hillary.

benlonghair: I'll vote for either Obama or McCain, in that order. Never Hillary.

I'll vote for Hillary if she's the nominee selected by the people. If the majority of Democrats want Obama and the superdelegates select Hillary, I will vote for McCain.

Diogenes [TotalFark] 2008-02-14 11:12:02 AM
It would be a Pyrrhic victory to be sure.

And Florida of all places? After 2000, is she farking insane?

This and the superdelegate angle scare the crap out of me. It would be more than just the loss of Obama in the general election, it will be the consequences of how she got there. If her ambition and ego can't see that, she'll be as disastrous if not more than Bush.

EvilEgg [TotalFark] 2008-02-14 11:13:39 AM
Calmamity: I'll vote for Hillary if she's the nominee selected by the people.

I will never, ever vote for Hillary. Any other of the Democratic candidates I could have seen my way to voting for.

Bush/Clinton is starting to become Lancaster/York.

incidentally, pretend jarhead, the "extreme left" has been marginalized in the "democrat" party since 1992. the "democrat" party is actually very centrist, compared to the old-school tax-and-spend democrats of the past.

unfortunately for you, the "republic" party has been in the thrall of the extreme religious right for years, which has caused its demise. you lost in '06, and you will lose in '08. get used to it, soldier!

Well, as long as you're not basing your decision on something as shallow as appearance.

Certianly not entirely. However, her eyes scare me. It is not natural to be able to see the white of a persons eyes all the way around the iris.

And just like an animal with a watch eye, I don't trust people that have eyes like that.

You'd be surprised how many people do that.

Why do you think every president thus far has been a white male?

perdu 2008-02-14 12:07:40 PM
OK, time for a new party then

That's simple. You see, blacks are missing a bone in their ankle that makes it impossible for them to properly suck on the taints of Big Business owners.

absoluteparanoia 2008-02-14 12:09:56 PM
If Michegan's and Florida's delegates get seated, they should be allowed to vote for everyone BUT Hillary.

Why? Because she defied the party and kept her name on the ballot. If she insists those delegates are hers because she was the only name on the ballot, that's absurd.

CanadianCommie [TotalFark] 2008-02-14 12:18:39 PM
this is pretty much why she should get trounced in EVERY primary from here until Obama gets an embarrassing lead and an obvious nomination.

Force her to drop out, that way she can't concoct a win out of the blue.

It's kinda like when you're bidding on something ebay and you end up bidding more than you really want to just because you want to win.

Yeah, it's kinda like that.

Stupid question:

Why would either candidate need 2,025 if the Florida/Michigan delegates are not allowed to vote?

AndEhBus 2008-02-14 01:11:28 PM
Hillary would tattoo a swastika on her forehead if she knew she would gain more votes than she would lose.

Nah. The extremists show up in the primaries and then are ignored after that so candidates can take a centrist approach to winning.

Seriously, what has bush done for evangelicals in the last 7 years?

Neonkopite 2008-02-14 01:14:12 PM
Theunconvincingsavant: There is little to no extreme left in the entire united states, and certainly not within the umbrella of the democratic party. How could you argue there is an extreme left in a country that has the most archaic laws on healthcare, employee rights, working hours, vacation time, environmental health and safety laws at work, workers compensation, etc etc...

Take note world! The extreme leftists in the US are pushing for a very pedestrian quasi-universal healthcare package in their bizarre campaign rhetoric. Just think, if it can work in the USA, it can work anywhere!

ZachF81 2008-02-14 01:14:27 PM
I've been saying this for how long now?

There's a reason that as a conservative I'm going to cast my primary vote for Hillary. To stick it to the libs.

FishingWithFredo 2008-02-14 01:15:14 PM
That's why I'm puzzled at the Obama flock getting so excited.

"We've taken the lead in delegates!"

"We've won X number of primaries and caucuses in a row!!"

If you don't get the number of delegates needed for the nomination, Clinton & Co. is going to blow the place up to win. Lawsuits, behind-the-scenes bribery and extortion, whatever's necessary.

Have you heard the woman's straight-faced claims on why the Michigan and Florida delegates should count for her? And you somehow doubt she'll take a "by any means necessary" tack?

Whenever I point this out to the glazed-over Obama crowd, they either ignore it or seem to indicate that his hopeful, optimistic message and momentum are going to carry the day. They've apparently never experienced the phenomenon known as "politics."

Well, in the interest of accuracy, all the Democratic candidates were on the FL ballot. But the spirit of what you said still rings true here. Her little "victory" appearance the night of the FL made me very stabby.

Added to that, our asshat Senator Nelson is suing the DNC over the suspension of the delegates, and had the nerve to appear with her at that event.

So that's two more Democrats that will never see my vote.

You do remember 2000 and 2004, yes? And here we are talking about losing AGAIN. You have to admit, even though he sometimes doesn't present the corpse corps (jeez I never can get that right) core of the problem impartially, the Dems do an admirable job farking things up for themselves.

I wouldn't say that the American people are very confident about the party at this point. If they screw this up TCS may have his point proven.

TheConvincingSavant: The extreme left has already destroyed the Democrat party. Not much more she can do to it now.

The only extremists to be found in the US are those on the fascist right. Fightin' righties who try to make the case for torture and spying on the citizenry and fighting unwinnable, pre-emptive wars based on deliberate lies. Who also wanna spend the country into a shiatstorm that'll make the Great Depression look like a five year old's birthday party replete with clowns and ponies. There is very little left left in the Democratic party. There is no extreme left period. Learn this.

On Topic?

Would the Clintons sacrifice their party for their own ambition? You bet they would.

They would sacrifice their first born child on an altar built to satisfy the blood lust of Baal and Mammon if it would cinch the nom fer Hellacious Clinton.

Thanx fer askin'.

/Me likee Andrew Sullivan. The dude makes sense.
//The Florida/Michigan question must be resolved. Either split the delegates evenly giving neither side an advantage, have a do-over or don't count the votes period. These are the only sane options.

i'm not planning to vote for a republican or democrat this year... however, i do have to say that the amount of hatred for hillary clinton is quite stunning... or amusing... one of the two...

if i don't like the libertarian candidate, i'm going to write in:

"my cock"

and though he denies it completely, if that clown ron paul gets the nod for libertarians, i'll abandon the party completely...

PowerSlacker: Why would either candidate need 2,025 if the Florida/Michigan delegates are not allowed to vote?

Actually there's a lot of talk floating around right now that says that they may move the "finish line" back to account for the absence of MI and FL. Clinton will fight this till the end, though, because doing so would signal that her plan to count those states in some way has failed.
