A Farewell To A Perfect Score: ...the fark was that?

My Bloody Valentine, one of the more unique bands of the 80s.

haha I was born when the 80's were almost over. Why did I feel like I hadn't consumed nearly enough of any number of hallucinogenic substances to comprehend that music?

yeah it can take some getting into/used to. And some people never do. And it may not exactly be hallucinogenics you need but perhaps some, oh, smokable plant matter ;)

Hallucinogenics + Valentines isn't so good, too claustrophobic sounding... save those for Slowdive.

/Best song in F# ever.

Now we need Bullet for My Valentine for the trifecta to be in play.

FeedTheCollapse 2008-02-14 10:18:29 AM

/original.

Jeezum Crow 2008-02-14 10:20:29 AM
YES YES YES!!! One of my favorites EVOR! They're also back together again and possibly touring.

/Google it, I'm lazy

Best song evar!

Now chug some cough syrup and stare at your hand for 3 hours while listening to this song.

/What? did i just say that?
//So when the hell are they reuniting? New material? I've heard rumors. I want answers dammit!

Ophelia's Snorkel 2008-02-14 10:58:45 AM
Oh, subby, thank you!

/excited about reunion rumors too

Millzners 2008-02-14 12:35:59 PM
Ashamed to say I haven't knowingly heard this band's music before -- but they sound familiar enough that I'm sure I've heard them and didn't know who they were.

Time to check them out -- their production sounds really cool.

kanesays 2008-02-14 12:58:50 PM
Thanks subby!

MBV!!!

awfulperson [TotalFark] 2008-02-14 01:12:35 PM
Thank you for that, submitter.

/feeling soft as snow, but warm inside

meh, the reunion isn't a rumor, dammit!

hopefully it's not a massive prank by Kevin Shields, either.

A Farewell To A Perfect Score: ...the fark was that?

The most beautiful music in the world......played on lawn mowers.

All hail MBV... it took me a few years to unlock their awesomeness, but they are just about my #1 favorite band.

I have never taken any drugs (beyond booze); guess that's why it took longer.

The shows are sold out, so if Shields is taking the piss, then there'll be hell to pay from the fans who purchased tickets.

What I want to know is when MBV plans to release re-mastered versions of their CDs. The ones right now sound awful.

Favourite MBV moment: goggle-eyed in terror as they played the white noise bridge to You Made Me Realise FOR FIFTEEN MINUTES AT THE LOUDEST FREAKING VOLUME KNOWN TO MAN on a tour in Brixton around 1991 or so.

Easily my favourite live moment of all time. People were freaking out, leaving, puking, strobes going the whole time - and then the riff kicked back in and the last remaining sense of hearing left for the rest of the month. Unbelievable.

Song is here (bridge at 2.00 or so):

supposedly he's doing the Creation-era EPs. The only thing preventing me from purchasing yet another copy of my worn out Loveless is that I'm hoping he moves onto the albums as well. Would be nice to hear at least Isn't Anything remastered as that album has never sat quite right with me.

Kevin Shields has done more to influence my guitar playing than anyone, save for maybe Thurston Moore.
Yeah, I like it noisy.

Guess_Who: this one's better

it made me mad when people would assume my MBV shirt was a reference to Good Charlotte. And introducing them and Bullet For My Valentine in this thread is pure blasphemy.

Robert1966 [TotalFark] 2008-02-15 05:03:13 PM
MBV was a great band, if only for two albums. "Loveless" is still amazing, like the songs they play in your dreams - just out of reach.
