Yoko has done more harm to the name "John Lennon" than a this chick will ever do. Without John, Yoko would have probably died from an O.D. in the early 1970s as a failed artist/singer. She whores his name out now to fund her personal agenda.

Its a lawsuit over the trademark of the single name "Lennon." Not her first name, not his last name. Just the trademark of the single word name.

Yeah, I really grew to loathe Lennon when I learned more of his 70's life right after his death (I was only 10 when he died). It pisses me off to this day that he wrote a song called "Beautiful Boy" for Sean while totally ignoring Julian. And it wasn't even just that he was around more for Sean .... he totally reinvented himself as super House-Dad "I love my son and wife, every stinking word out of my mouth will be about how wonderful our love is" while pissing on Cynthia and Julian. I mean, he totally abandoned Julian in so many ways and just rubbed his nose in sh*t by public fawning over Sean to the point of nausea.

And to his detriment, Sean has always acted like an aloof dick about it. He has never acknowledged how unfair his dad treated his first son and always acted surprised Julian was ever so uptight about it. I don't know what else Sean was to do in that situation, but still, he never acted grateful that it was him that got all of daddy's love, support and money.

Even better than that, Lennon thought that it was Paul's way of saying to him that it was cool he was dumping his wife for Yoko.

This would be ironic if the inspiration her parents had for naming her "Lennon"...was "John Lennon".

I'll be the Lennon apologist. Yes, Lennon abandoned Julian (though they were making up and spending time together shortly before his death), and yes, this is a particularly wretched example of Yoko at her worst, but Cynthia was no saint, either, nor was Paul, nor was this Lennon woman (I highly doubt she didn't choose to use her first name because of its obvious marketing power--saw one of her CDs a few years back, the front and back cover didn't have a picture of her and the font was similar one I'd seen on a John Lennon album). Not that they don't all have their good points.

Ultimately I try not to let the lives of artists influence my perception of them, because there's no way to know the whole story, and if our lives were all open to judgment from the entire world we'd probably look pretty bad in certain areas, too.

Lennon could be a son of a biatch, but he tried to make the world better and his music was brilliant. Not a lot of us can say the same about ourselves.

Love or hate the music, but don't judge based on the limited knowledge we have. Same reason I don't judge the life of Britney, Soulja Boy, Mozart or Tom Waits - it's none of my business and shouldn't affect how I perceive their work.

I stick by my last post, but just to clear it up, this is not true--Lennon wrote Good Night and Lucy In The Sky for Julian, and Julian played drums on "Ya-ya", a song off Walls and Bridges, when he was 11. I doubt Julian was particularly incensed that John wrote "Beautiful Boy" for Sean, nor would it have been appropriate to write the song for Julian, who's older than Sean.
