What's the point of getting sober when you're gonna get drunk again?

I was astonished to hear "One More Time" in Taco Bell commercials recently. That sure as hell doesn't sound like a 30-year old song.

If you don't own "Look Sharp," may God have mercy on your soul.

This is yet another thread where I get to post that fantastic cover of Pulp's "Common People" by William Shatner with JOE JACKSON (and Ben Folds).

Yay!

Bonus points for his use of the phrase "Nanny State".

Always liked Joe, and thought he was unfairly compared to Elvis Costello in the early years.

Sorry...But he really screwed up when he gave Taco Hell the rights to One More Time...

Another great tune shot straight to hell...

If you don't own Look Sharp, you don't admit that out loud. That is just perverse.

Both excellent, and I've always liked Night And Day as well because of this song. (pops)

Heh, I still have the lapel button from the original double-10 inch-vinyl release of that.

I have a grainy video around here of Joe doing "It's Different For Girls" with a chick singing the chick's part. First class version from a first class artist.

I almost thought this was in reference to Michael's father.

Re: The Joe Jackson "I'm The Man" era BBC concert

Awesome show. Those guys really rocked the house. The bit where Joe got smacked in the face with a stale cafeteria hamburger was amusing.

I'm a huge fan of Joe Jackson & have every album of his, even the rare stuff like "Will Power" and "Mike's Murder". The great thing about his music is that even though there is such a vast range of style to much of it, there's still a continuity so that it always sounds like Joe Jackson, whether it's rock, swing, or pseudo-classical. Brilliant stuff.

So now I'm off to get his new one, "Rain".

radioman_ - That was an amazing duet from the Laughter and Lust tour. I have been looking everywhere for it. Not sure why he never released that version. It was brilliant.

Is there somewhere you can post it and send me a link?

radioman_ 2008-02-13 07:16:59 PM
samimek I'm going nuts looking for it in stacks of CDs as my appetite has been heavily whetted. I found it as an avi on Usenet a few years ago, along with basically the whole show cut up into individual videos. You might ask on Usenet if I fail. a.b.music.videos or a.b.music.video. I can't remember which.
