I was all prepared to completely write her off as just another talentless skank, but last night I downloaded her album. Damn good stuff. Got that retro 60s girl group thing down. I've been quite amazed, really. Hope she can live long enough to do another one.

LOL. I am lame. I meant: What does the word videotape mean? I guess I don't use the term videotape anymore. Or, when I do, it just sounds old-fashioned.

IMO the real talent goes to the record producers. They deserve big kudos.

Definitely. The production sounds like it could've been recorded in 1963. A lot of people have tried to recapture that vibe, but they absolutely nailed it. Some of it could pass for Motown outtakes, until you listen to the lyrics. Also, at some points I could swear it was actually Ronnie Spector singing.

Did it deserve record of the year? I don't know, but I'm enjoying it more than anything I've heard in a while.

Yeah, that's what made her slide so tragic...She's actually got talent. A LOT of it. I only hope she can stay off the crap long enough to have a good career, perpetually re-inventing herself, and putting out good records. She'd better not wind up squandering her talent in the rehab revolving door like a lot of people AND YES I'M LOOKING AT YOU SCOTT WEILAND GODDAMMIT.

Oh, and one more thing: anybody that can use the line "what kind of farkery is this" in a song that sounds like it could've been a hit in 1957 deserves all the kudos they can get.

One of my favorite albums of last year, listened to it more than just about anything else.

If only every CD was just 10 songs and 32 minutes long, the music biz would be in better shape. Less is definitely more.

Kudos to producer Mark Ronson who did an awesome job on Black To Black. His dad is Mick Ronson, who played guitar with Bowie in the early 70's and had solo career after that.

Mark Ronson had a single in the UK a few months back called Valerie with Amy doing the vocals, well worth seking out.

Amy was good on the Grammy show this past Sunday, although she appeared to lack confidence in herself while on stage. She really shouldn't she is a great singer.

"The worried mom also thinks it was a wise decision for her daughter to perform at the Grammys via satellite from England rather than to leave rehab (where she has been since last month) and fly to Los Angeles for the ceremony - where she ended up winning five awards."

Wrong! *buzz*
Apparently the Grammys people wanted her to take a drug and alcohol test before she could ever play live in LA, most likely because she has the habit of showing up drunk, forgetting the words to her songs, throwing up, and stumbling around. Doesn't sound like someone who should have been sobered up by now if that's the case.

Who cares? I hope she OD's soon and takes Pete Doherty with her.

Back to Black is her second album. Check out "Frank", her first one. Also a great great album.

And who played with Mott the Hoople and Ian Hunter.

Big fan of Mick Ronson, didn't know his son was doing this kind of work.
