I am very curious who 'they' is. Fantastic musicians still exist, the problem is you won't hear them on the radio or on TV anymore like when Zep was top of the charts. I'm just waiting for this ganster-rap/emo/indy fad to finally loosen the grip it has on the music indistry. Also, once new music paradigms (digital) are in place, music that the majority of people like (stats on music downloads), hopefully the whole idea of a record company will cease to exist. That can only be good for music.

/oh yeah, ELO, that was great!

Hmmm....God and Xeus are discussing ELO on a Fark thread.

IMHO, Jeff Lynne's Armchair Theatre is a sadly overlook classic. Some of the later ELO is drek, but the early stuff was really unique at the time.
