With video, though I'm still unsure I blame him. He is brilliant, if entirely amoral and fundamentally dishonorable.

Was he also responsible for the claims that McCain's adoptive daughter was the result of an interracial affair?

As if we needed any further evidence, this shows that McCain is a party hack who would vote for his own mother's impeachment if the party asked him to.

So what is your point?

I think the point is the Republicans have no farking conscience.

But we all knew that.

FTFY.
I'm not a Republican operative, but if you think that dirty tricks and despicable behavior in general are limited to one party, you have a LOT to learn.

I guess this shows that while Karl Rove is probably the worst example of the Republican enforcer - McCain isn't stupid enough to avoid having his support.

It is all about strategy now - McCain needs to make sure that he protects his right flank.

/Rove is to Republicans as Carville is to Democrats

He's not "brilliant." He just lacks a moral governor. He is a so-so strategist who is not held back from doing whatever nasty thing he wants, if he believes it is to his advantage.

It is not that hard to get ahead if you do not worry about your methods. Lots of equally clever -- and many even smarter -- people could easily achieve what he has, if they were willing to be total scumbags.

His job is to get his candidate elected, not to be consistent or express his own opinions. And he's very good at his job.

It may or may not have been him, but he generally gets the credit/blame.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The only candidate capable of uniting the Republican Party is Hillary Clinton.

Considering the intelligence of the average voter, and who the Democrats threw at him, YES. It's actually pretty easy, all you have to do is make up lie after lie about your opponent, and put them in the mainstream media. And no matter how bad and evil you are, you can still beat two worthless Democrats.

If Hillary wins, we're going to see the same thing. But it's going to be difficult to trash Obama over his drug use and such, considering he's already written about it.

PC LOAD LETTER [TotalFark] 2008-02-10 06:05:44 PM
He got raped by Rove, but he knows that Rove loves him deep down inside.

McCain's undoing will be his actual flip-flopping.

Respect? Not the first word that leaps to mind when thinking about Kruel Rover the GOPhers official go to guy fer dirty tricks and the like.

Brilliant? Nah wouldn't say that. The guy is weasel clever but not people smart. The Karmic debtload that guy carries makes Marley's chains seem like a trail of paperclips.

Asshat? Works.

Unscrupulous shiat-disturber? Getting closer.

Moral black hole? Perfect!

He's a low rent Machiavelli who had his soul surgically removed to make room fer more evil.

/McWalnutZ is just an out and out power grasping attention whore at this point. Quatchi gots no repsect fer that guy at all.

puffy999 [TotalFark] 2008-02-10 06:07:18 PM
I also believe Dems were almost equally culpable in electing Bush twice. Again, if Hillary wins, the Dems have done a significant part to f*ck this country over for a third election in a row.

Didn't say he wasn't smart. Didn't say sociopaths (yes, that's hyperbole) can't be smart. Just that this particular arsewipe is given misguided credit. He should be recognized for what he does well. But it's not "brilliance."

I feel the same way. Rove is literally a political cannon. Whether you're getting shot, or the one doing the shooting, Rove is really just a tool. As for the McCain w/ illegitimate black child rumor, there's no hard evidence it was Rove, but he has done similar things in past campaigns.

In politics, often times multiple candidates run on compatible or nearly identical platforms. However, since only one can be elected, they often emphasize or exaggerate differences or shortcomings and exploit them to win the election by criticizing their opponent even though they may support them in other elections in the future. You didn't discover anything new. More at 11.

That's the thing. Are scam artists smarter than us, or are they just more likely to abuse our trust and naiveté, turning it to their advantage?

I don't think they're smarter. I just think they think they are, because they've decided to cheat, and we don't know that.

He knew how to win two elections. I'd just point out that it's possible for a strategy to be very effective in the short term, but destructive to your interests in the long term.

And I'd like to point out that in both elections he was working with an idiot. And in the second, an unpopular idiot.

You're right, different elections call for different strategies. But his worked and if he starts working for McCain, as an Obama supporter, I'd be afraid.

No he wasn't. There is absolutely no evidence that the Bush campaign did the phone calls and they would have been stupid to have done it. There were supposedly smear calls against McCain this year too.

Passive Aggressive Larry [TotalFark] 2008-02-10 07:25:49 PM
Rove is a terrible human being. I don't care if he knows how to win an election, I would never vote for a candidate that has anything to do with him. But McCain lost my respect about 5 years ago when he decided to become a republican sell-out, so this information doesn't really change anything.

thats assuming there isnt some really nasty dirty on Obama, not drug crap that he already admits but something really bad i.e. election fraud or vote selling.

/not saying he has done any of this
//just saying, admitting to some bad things doesnt mean he has admitted to ALL the bad things.

That this goes along with being kind of a bastard should really be no surprise, that's been how it has been since way before The Prince.

Not impressed. Notice how Red Sox players change their tune about the Yankees when they sign with the pinstripes.
