This is awesome.

And, even if the defeatists try their best to say the opposite, terrorism CAN be defeated.

Since this is on FAUX NEWS, it's a safe bet that Al Qaeda in Iraq is not weakened and that somehow FAUX news obviously skewed the facts in such a way that will show the surge worked and Bush is a God.

Terrorism is not an abstract concept, and does not go against human nature.

That's why a federal war against the organized crime can succeed, but not on drugs.

Terrorists can be defeated. Al Qaeda can be defeated. Calling it a "war on terror" is what makes it abstract and laughable. And it was made abstract on purpose.

Being in Anbar Province over the course of the last 2 years, I can honestly say that what they claim is true. We have not been attacked in Ramadi in over a year. The city sounds much quieter as well.

Good jorb US military
Good jorb Iraqi people and military!

tonesskin [TotalFark] 2008-02-10 02:15:32 PM
BravadoGT:, did you read the entry? Can you explain what is meaningful about it to those of us who are too left-leaning and don't have the cognitive tools to understand complex issues that pro-war scholars understand?

Bill_Wick's_Friend 2008-02-10 02:16:14 PM
Tatsuma: And, even if the defeatists try their best to say the opposite, terrorism CAN be defeated.

How much do you want to be that this time next year America will still be embroiled in Iraq, America will still be losing 1, 2, 3 troops a day to IEDs and snipers, Iraqis will still be dying by the dozens in car bombs and IEDs and suicide bombings and some jackhole from within the GOP or the military will issue a "things are getting better!" pollyanaish progress report?

From pre-war assessments (oil will pay for the reconstruction, flowers and candies) to mid-invasion assessmenets (six days, six weeks, certainly not six months) to the continuing nonsensical updates (mission accomplished, corner turned, last throes, #2 killed, #2 killed, #2 killed, #2 killed, #2 killed) it's been the same bleat for five solid years. How many times will these guys lie to you before you stop believing them?

Do you really believe them, or is your professing of belief easier for you than admitting that you've been wrong for so long on the subject?

Now that's sarcasm!

When will ppl learn that just because a city/twon is not attacked within a short period of time, does not mean the enemy is weakened. WTC was attacked in 1993 then waited until 2001 to strike again. So b.w 1994 and 2000 did it mean OBL was weakened and that we were winning?

take that regression back one step. Anyone upset with America's attack and/or conquest of their country will adopt the most threatening posture possible. It doesn't cost anything to call yourself Al Qaeda. The fact that anyone uses that meme with any credibility is a testament to the American government WANTING to have an enemy.

It's an election year.

Last strategy was to show vote Republican or the terrorist will win, this strategy seems to be the terrorists are weakened so keep voting republican.

I'd love to believe Iraq was free of terrorists.

But when the evidence of the day consists of a diary entry vs. a suicide bomber killing 25 and injuring 40, it sure feels like that's just wishful thinking.

Mordis 2008-02-10 02:21:56 PM
The First: Now that's sarcasm!

No, that was totally serious. The people of Iraq are finally seeing that a better future and better life is ultimately up to them. They are stepping up and taking responsibility for that goal. I have said from the beginning that we could not succeed here without the Iraqi people finding some pride in their own country.

/end serious cat

Dear Diary,

I am very depressed today because people keep blaming us Al Qaeda for all the bad things in Iraq when it's not me at all that is doing all the roadside bombs and has oil pipelines bombed so hardly any oil is getting exported.

sigh,

Al Qaeda
