They're only 3 delegates apart. Hence, deadlocked. Don't worry. The Beltway primary will knock that around.

Things will get VERY interesting if the superdelegates all go vote for hillary.

You have no idea how much the idea of this happening pisses me off.

They haven't so far, and they probably won't. Not all, at least. What would be very interesting is if Obama wins every state from now on. That's also not very probable.

It is, however, possible.

I was looking around online and the only thing I caught so far was a higher then expected turnout. Weather didn't have much of an effect on it.

Obama has more more states by wider margins than Clinton. Yes, they are very close in delegate counts right now but after Saturday Obama's momentum is huge and growing.

I really wish the media would stop counting the super-delegates in their counts. We in in the middle of a primary right now and they should be focused on the delegates that are already pledged as s direct result of voting. Save the super-delegate "controversy" until after Puerto Rico. Then if it's a story, run with it.

From what I've seen, MSNBC is leaving superdelegates out of it and CNN's clutching to "Clinton's ahead, Clinton's ahead, CLINTON'S STILL AHEAD" via superdelegates like their lives depend on it.

I've noticed it's really Wolf who won't quit licking Clinton's toes. The panel seems pretty open-minded.

robsul82 [TotalFark] 2008-02-10 03:48:42 PM
For example, right now with 132 still to be allocated, MSNBC has Obama leading 943-895. You don't get a hint of this on CNN.com, it's jammed into a graphic geared at making Clinton appear to be leading.

To be fair, NY has a lot of black people and CNN counts very black person in their exit polls as an automatic "Obama."

Obama's at 65-75% on Rasmussen Markets for the Maine Causes right now, which I suppose is a good sign.

fosborb 2008-02-10 04:06:26 PM
I think it's far stranger that the headline references McCain in the lead when the real story yesterday was that apparently the Republicans haven't all lined up behind him. The article itself actually talks about it, but the headline is just a snap shot of where candidates sit in terms of total delegates after yesterday. In that sense, the headline is entirely accurate. Clinton and Obama are virtually neck and neck and McCain is still far in the lead.

Frankly, it's odd that CNN would use that fixed perspective for the headline instead of the IMHO far more interesting story of Obama beginning to break away while Huckabee picks up momentum and McCain falters.

smooshie [TotalFark] 2008-02-10 04:09:49 PM
Neat site, skazzy!

While Clinton leads in the national tracking poll, Rasmussen Markets data now gives Obama a 64.0% chance of winning the nomination. Expectations for Clinton are at 35.9%.

skazzytl 2008-02-10 04:11:49 PM
Woah Obama just went up to 90% on Rasmussen Markets.

That suggests someone knows something and is willing to be on it.

skazzytl 2008-02-10 04:22:07 PM
Oh, results are coming in already.

With 11% precincts reporting: Obama 50%, Clinton 48%.

OregonVet [TotalFark] 2008-02-10 04:50:31 PM
I'm actually starting to be at ease after Hillary doing as well as she has. I didn't realize there are that many stupid people voting. The momentum Obama is gaining and the fact Hillary is so low on funds is helping me relax like a fine scotch.

ryebread [TotalFark] 2008-02-10 05:00:56 PM
CNN is starting to report on results in Maine. 51% Obama, 48% Clinton with 11% in right now.

The_OcO 2008-02-10 05:03:00 PM
I'm interested in how the Obamanation will take it when the super delegates give this race to hillary in exchange for selected positions of power in the whitehouse.

SubBass49 2008-02-10 05:03:26 PM
I challenge ANYONE who still supports Hillary Clinton to outline their position as to WHY they support her. I want to know what policy differences have them supporting her. What character differences, what experiential differences, etc. Given that her platform and Obama's platform are very similar (with the exception that Obama has vowed to restore the constitution, while Clinton has refused to commit to that), I want to know WHAT EXACTLY they see in her. This goes out to everyone who has her back.

Personally I REFUSE to support someone who:

- attacked Obama for links to lobbyists while taking more lobbyist donations than ANY candidate...Republican OR Democrat.
- refuses to restore the constitution to it's pre-Bush condition
- says they will not have a dialogue with leaders of rogue nations
- keeps the option of torture on the table
- keeps the option of so-called "tactical" nukes on the table in the fight against terrorism
- uses dirty political tricks such as push-polls to attempt to influence voters
- blatantly copies her closest opponent's driving message the second he wins a state's primary
- "loans" $5 million to her campaign from her own personal money, which cannot be tracked so that voters know where the money came from (could be more lobbyist cash)
- refuses to release tax return data to open up some transparency as to where the cash came from, further indicating that it is dirty money.
- campaigns in a state she had sworn she wouldn't campaign in
- keeps her name on the ballot in a state where all the other party candidates removed their names due to party violations.
- then fights for the delegates to be counted AFTER she has won both states, KNOWING that it wasn't a fair primary vote in EITHER of them

So...Clinton supporters...please tell me why in the light of all this, you can CONTINUE to support this woman. It's got nothing to do with her gender, and everything to do with sending a message to the politicians that we're SICK of this BS, and we're not putting up with it anymore. We've gotten enough of it from Bush over the past 7 years, we don't need it from a Democrat too.

CNN wants a close race for as long as possible, not in some attempt to get HillDog the WH but to boost their ratings.

the superdelagets will vote for whom ever the people want, they might like Clinton but they like keeping their jobs more.

If that's the case, why doesn't the headline have any reference to McCain's stunning disappointment Saturday. Republicans are looking for a solidified base but it's clear Huckabee still stands in the way. If all they cared about is a close race, it should have said, "McCain loses ground."

If you're an Obama fan, the NY Times numbers will make you cringe.

My understanding is they don't count superdelegates, but they also don't count caucuses at this point for some random reason.

It's neck and neck coming down to the wire and the tired old Hillaryhorse is wheezing and gasping but it appears Barack's got a fresh pair o' legs underneath him.

Maine looks good fer BHO and every time I look up it gets better.

Who the hell is still pulling fer ClintCo?

Do they all have vaginavision or wot?

Through her actions (and those of her surrpogates) on the campaign trail have lost any of the respect I had for her at the start of this uberlong nominating process.

Obama Nation versus Abomination.

Them's yer choices people.

I never watched Children of Dune, so maybe?

MFL, I think, was talking about Obama in relation to the planned DNC/Hillary presidency, saying that Hillary's nomination and win has been in the works for years but Obama is something unexpected.

The thought of a black Paul Atreides makes me giggle.

Truthiness: My understanding is they don't count superdelegates, but they also don't count caucuses at this point for some random reason.

It has something to do with the way caucuses are run. The first one is kind of preliminary and they decide their actual delegates later, so the current caucus delegate numbers are close to what they will be but not final. I could be wrong but I think thats how it works IIRC.
