This has nothing to do with sexism, it has everything to do with Hillary Clinton. I would rather vote Republican than vote for her. Give me anything except for Hillary.

/by the way, the writer for that article is a twat

That's why the "You're sexist if you vote for Obama!" argument makes no sense. Don't those two things usually go together?

FTFA: Women are voting for Clinton and blacks are voting for Obama because we all look for people like us, who think like we do, understand our experience and, once in office, would be more likely to make decisions with which we agree.

There are sexists not voting for Clinton and racists not voting for Obama, but I stopped reading after this sentence.

The writer is obviously too smart for the likes of us.

With very, very minor tweaks you would be voting R if you vote for Senator Clinton.

Why are white men giving their vote to Obama over Hillary Clinton?

Because she's a self centered, vindictive, hypocritical biatch queen with a control fetish a mile wide. Question farking answered. Get over it.

But here's why you can't win the argument with someone like the author of TFA: that almost seems to confirm what she's said, and she'd call you on that. "See! Men can't handle a woman in power!"

But I agree with you, and I actually felt much the same way about Mitt Romney: I just can't stand people who are too obviously willing to say whatever or take whatever position they think will get them the most votes. It has nothing to do with Hillary's sex -- it has to do with the fact that she's a vote whore.

/"see! he called her a "whore"! white men think of women as whores!"
//get your biatch ass in the kitchen and make me pie
///"see! he just wants women to be his domestic slaves!"
////etc. etc.

No, the author sounds like a True Believer. Kind of like how people can still believe that Bush is a great guy, or that communism can work in the real world, there's a certain segment that really DOES believe that Hillary can do no wrong because she's a woman. I don't even pretend to understand the mindset of a fanatic like those people but I do try to keep an eye on them. I wouldn't want people to mistake their ravings for anything remotely resembling factual.

I've got a gut feeling that Clinton was really expecting to run against a white male like Edwards (or Gore, or Kucinich(?!)). Running against a black man kinda makes playing the victim card really crass.

And Hillary was really hoping to keep playing that victim card.

Are you saying that she's voting for Clinton because she hates Arabs?

Because she could have just written that in her article and saved us all the trouble.

Lawnchair 2008-02-10 01:48:37 PM
There are 16 female Senators and 7 female governors now. Not enough, but there is one black Senator (that'd be brother Obama). Most of the black reps have black-majority ridings. There are no woman-focused districts, but dozens of women in the House of Reps.

My very Republican state has now elected two female Democratic governors. We (the Dems here, at least) also just went 70-30 for Obama.

I'm voting Obama cause I like him a whole damn lot. He's done a lot. Hillary will be crucified in the general, on, among other things, Bill's last-day pardons that the Justice Department argued against, but Hillary's brothers were paid to lobby for.

She could have, but the "blowing up Arabs" contingent isn't quite as strong as the "stop oppressing women" at the moment.

Probably not. And she would most likely violently disagree with that assesment if confronted.

Hillary isn't a bad candidate. If she were running as a positive-change outsider and shunned the corporatism as Obama has, I would gladly vote for her. Nothing to do with her sex. Swing and a miss, lady.

The experts tell us that men, the testosterone voters, care more about issues such as strength and power. When pollsters asked voters which candidate they viewed as the most qualified to become commander in chief, the answer was Clinton by a huge margin. (It doesn't seem right to call her by her first name, as most people do, when thinking of her commanding the mightiest military force in the world.) By this measure, men should be siding with her. Could it be that Obama's call for a placid non-confrontational future is more appealing to white men? Or could it be that many men simply cannot countenance the image of a woman in a position of enormous power?

I can't quite figure out the point of this article, but it seems the implication is that we can scientifically prove that white men should prefer Clinton, so since they don't it means they're sexist.
