Software2: You're living in a dream world Scatman.

No he's not...he died of lung cancer in 1999.

/Actually knew Scatman John personally...we hung out watching a McCoy Tyner concert at the old Catalina Bar & Grill in Hollywood.

I lasted about 10 seconds before clicking that off. I do love scat, but I can not stand that electronic canned music.

Ahhhh, better? (new window)

John Larkin was very cool...

He was a lifelong stutterer and aspiring jazz musician and he didn't get into the Techno-Scat until he was like 45. It was 1994 when he released scatman which was probably his biggest hit in North America, but he was huge in Europe and I believe South America as well.

In 5 years he went form a nobody to someone who had inspiring lyrics and some great music to back them up.

One of my more favourite songs was Invisible Man, a nice tribute to the Queen Song.

I made up a mixed CD with about 15 tracks of his, I could never find actual albums.

Everybody's sayin' that the Scatman stutters
But doesn't ever stutter when he sings.
But what you don't know I'm gonna tell you right now
That the stutter and the scat is the same thing.
Yo I'm the Scatman.
Where's the Scatman? I'm the Scatman.

Scatman, fat man, black and white and brown man
Tell me 'bout the colour of your soul.
If part of your solution isn't ending the pollution
Then I don't want to hear your stories told.
I want to welcome you to Scatman's world

I've only heard "Scatman" and I really that what this link was going to lead me to.

This was a pleasant surprise.

3:23=3:34 made the click worth it.

Clark Terry and Shooby Taylor would like a word with this alleged scat artist.

Scatman is just pure awesome in human form. He presents an uplifting and inspiration message through a unique and interesting format; I just can't get enough of him.

Everybody Jam!

Looks like another song to add to that comic's routine 'I hate Pachelbel' about songs with key progressions based on Pachelbel's Kanon.
