So Clinton is a blunderbuss?

Asa Phelps [TotalFark] 2008-02-09 04:27:25 PM
On the contrary - hillary is so polarizing that she will push moderates to vote for mccain.

T-Servo: So Clinton is a blunderbuss?

I thought she repositioned herself as a Non-Establishment Blunderdog.

FlashHarry [TotalFark] 2008-02-09 04:45:43 PM
totally, utterly wrong.

1) the GOP has been rehearsing the clinton fight for years. they've got 16 years of dirt on her.
2) conservatives hate mccain. against obama, they'll stay home. against hillary, they'll come out to vote.
3) hillary is already a very polarizing figure
4) many in her own party don't like her

Asa Phelps: On the contrary - hillary is so polarizing that she will push moderates to vote for mccain.

This seems likely. McCain's a moderate himself in many ways, if it came down to him and Hilary there would be question as to which way moderate voters would sway.

gundamtsubasa [TotalFark] 2008-02-09 05:34:00 PM
Funny, that just doesn't seem to add up to what the head-to-head polls are saying on Real Clear Politics. In fact, a McCain-Clinton matchup is the only one where they have Republicans winning.

Bill Frist 2008-02-09 08:11:39 PM
Better a knife than a wet noodle(Clinton).

If any voter decides to vote for Hillary based on this argument, I want their citizenship to be taken away.

DoctorWorm21045 2008-02-09 08:16:12 PM
America disagrees. To beat McCain, who is pretty much the only non-polarizing Republican running, or at least the least polarizing candidate, we need someone who can appeal to both sides, and Clinton is completely incapable of that.

overdark 2008-02-09 08:17:03 PM
I voted for Obama in the primaries. If it's McCain-Cliton, I'm voting for McCain. I'd rather vote for the crack dealer down the street than that lying, scheming biatch.

Snarfangel [TotalFark] 2008-02-09 08:19:54 PM
So we are supposed to elect her because she shoots off her mouth?

orclover 2008-02-09 08:21:00 PM
Maybe we should have a policy debate, and not a fight. There might enough Republicans out there who are willing to agree to a ceasefire on this whole Right vs. Left war thats been raging for 16 years. You know, to like get things actually accomplished in this country while we still have one worth doing something with.

/or we can go back to tearing into each other as China and the rest of the world laughs its ass off.

I Said [TotalFark] 2008-02-09 08:22:32 PM
She's got it backwards.

Obama supporters, McCain supporters, Huckabee supporters, and even Ron Paul supporters agree:

Obama is the tougher candidate to beat.

quatchi 2008-02-09 08:22:49 PM
"I'm actually drawing from voters a Democrat needs to draw from to establish a strong lead against Senator McCain - voters making less than $50,000, Latino voters, women, which has always been part of the Democratic nominee's base," she said. "I have every confidence we can win back the voters Senator Obama has been attracting."

Was wondering why Hill was doing so well in the Latino community until I realised that her campaign manager is the anchor baby of a pair of illegal immigrants.

In her analogy, Obama is really the gun and Hil is the knife and not a particularily sharp one at that.

Actually she's more like one of them knives that Samurais use to commit Hari Kari with cos if the Dems go with her as the Nom it'll be an act of political suicide.

ClintCo's Machine = the more you learn the more you loathe.
Obama's Movement = the more you learn the more you love.

Paedophile_Deluxe 2008-02-09 08:23:26 PM
"When I think about running against Senator McCain, if I'm so fortunate to be the Democratic nominee - you'll never have to worry about being knocked out of the ring," Clinton said to cheers. "I think I can go toe to toe with John McCain every single day."

Yeah, cause John McCain is so well-known for dirty campaigning, and not for being the victim of it.

Lenny and Carl 2008-02-09 08:23:39 PM
I'd rather vote for the crack dealer down the street than that lying, scheming biatch.

When did we get so upset by politicians who lie and scheme. Seems like part of the job description to me. I'm more concerned that Obama's perpetual optimism will fark things up in DC.

I consider this election a win-win-win..

If Obamma wins he gets my vote.
If Hilary wins and picks Obamma as VP.. he gets my vote.
If Hilary wins and picks pretty much anyone else.. Mccain gets my vote.

I consider the worst case scenario (Hilary winning without Obamma) a drastic improvement over idiot.

a wet hungry puppy will beat McCain in November if he gets the nomination. Dem turnouts are 2-1 to Republicans. Its just a campaign slogan, right now anything that will work is ok, let facts not muck up a nice scare-up

BuckTurgidson 2008-02-09 08:38:22 PM
Neurochemist: If Hilary wins and picks Obamma as VP.. he gets my vote.

Why? How would having Obama in the V.P. position change her presidency one iota?

Do you think she has any interest whatsoever in letting him influence her policies? His vice-presidency would be nothing like Cheney's. He'll be flying around dedicating new post offices and attending the funerals of obscure foreign leaders, not helping run the show.

Furthermore, while normally a V.P. job can boost someone looking to run for President later, Obama a) obviously doesn't need that boost, and b) would be irrevocably politically damaged and compromised by that role, and c) would be of much greater service spending that time in the Senate.

So if it did come down to a h. clinton v mccain, instead of the democrats taking the high road (and either failing badly or connecting well, depends on the candidate), h. clinton would take the low road and use the same low-brow version of rnc type campaigns.

The rovian divisive thing has been done...
--The evil brown people will come and get us without a republican protecting us...9-11, [end with a mushroom cloud]
--Gays directly from a parade in black leather will come into your home and attempt to convert your children.
--People in black leather overcoats and armbands will come and take away your guns by force.
--Medicine will be socalized and you will wait man hours in a hall full of bloody gauze and random needles lying around.

What is the dnc version of this?
--A national guard soldier dying in Iraq over BS WMDs.
--A middle class person who can't get insurance or has broke because of their health condition.
--A lesbian couple who are in some sort of weird legal limbo with a child because of screwed up laws.
--A person going postal on a campus killing a dozen random people.

It already happens every day. I don't see the shock value. (But I would like to see it addressed intelligently.)

Even is she could win the election which is very unsure, she will be attempting to herd cats because democrat voters do not do the lockstep thing and don't accept a wink and a nod well.

/And the quiet cue's from rnc operative postings are steering people away from barack 'hussein' obama.

Smellvin 2008-02-09 08:42:54 PM
Does it matter who runs against McCain? There's almost a one hundred percent chance that he'll keel over dead from old age by November.

yagottabefarkinkiddinme 2008-02-09 08:43:51 PM
Obama/McCain=Obama
Clinton/McCain=McCain

Republicans need Clinton to win.

I think Obama will win it all. I want Camelot. I want change. Who the fark would want to stay the course? The economy on real estate/construction issues alone without any other of the catastrophic clusterfarks America finds itself in tells oneself change is needed. Obama is most likely to change America and for the better. The other choices, no hope.

Hideously Gigantic Smurf 2008-02-09 08:44:32 PM
Do you honestly believe your average American, moderate though they may be, will vote for a black and/or a woman over a white man?

Might as well face it, McCain's won. But look on the bright side, bad as he is, he's still better than Bush.

Well, no, at least not for me. McCain/Obama, I'll vote Obama. McCain/Hillary, I'll vote for McCain. I'll cut my hand off later but that's what will happen.

/where are the candidates? ugh, what a hideous choice
