Wal-mart is a good example of how not to be a capitalist. Oh, they make money. But they're horrible for a working business climate. Take your pick of reasons: they're terrible to their suppliers, they unfairly abuse their market position to coerce local government into doing things their way, they mistreat their workers, they use chinese slave labor to keep prices low....dig deep enough and you'll find something to despise about them.

But that isn't what offends me most about Wal Mart. What gets me is that clueless idiots who THINK they understand market economics flock to defend Wal Mart in some misguided belief that Wal Mart needs and/or appreciates their help. They don't care about you. They don't care about me. They care about sucking as much money out of people as they can, regardless of the damage they do in the process.

Which is a real shame, considering that Sam Walton was possibly the best example of what a capitalist can be, he was a great man and a fantastic American. When he was in charge of the company it was a different store, but the day he stepped aside it started to change for the worst. Kind of like Disney.

Yet again, a candidate for president running as the lowest common denominator. I don't want a Wal-Mart shopping, bigoted, superstitious simpleton as the president of the United States.

I want an extremely intelligent, knowledgeable, nuanced statesman (stateswoman) to be President of the United States. At this, Huckabee, you fail.

Shaggy_C 2008-02-09 02:50:30 PM
I hate Huckabee's views on Church and State, but I think he's a far better candidate than 'I know Jack Kemp' McCain. I think a Huckabee presidency would be short, prudent, and actually move us in the right direction away from war and poor economic planning.

For a world citizen, you are remarkablu ill-informed. You vote based upon what the meida tells you, not what is there. Why don't you do some research. I'd think you'd find that Huckabee is a "extremely intelligent, knowledgeable, nuanced statesman".

I think his stance on the issues (aside from the asinine fair tax) are actually more reasonable than McCain's. You're making the dangerous statement that having 'homespun charm' should automatically be counted out. I don't think it should be a primary motivator but it should be a factor in the decision-making process.

No, I'm making the statement that people tend to overlook his wingnut previous statements because he seems like a "nice guy". Personally I don't want this man anywhere near the position where he can appoint Supreme Court Justices and his foreign policy positions are a wildcard.

"In Kansas, he spoke more of God, and I appreciated that," she said
Please don't vote.

"I think he's the most real candidate," the young Republican said.
If being real includes admitting you are a douche instead of trying to look like a good person

"Politics for me is you put a guitar in somebody's hands, you find out a lot about him," Waitt had said earlier while the band set up.
essentially you said "Politics for me is about picking someone based on the dumbest possible reasons"

"But if I'm home sleeping and you're breaking in through the window at the back door you better watch out, I've got conceal carry."
Thanks Mike but I will be choosing the candidate who went to grammar school.

"He assured about 500 people packed into the hangar that he would push for the 'fair tax' and that he would be the guy to hang "an out-of-business sign" on the front door of the IRS."
He assured a bunch of walmart shoppers they would be taxed disproportionally to how much money they have on goods they may need. And they cheered. FAIL

The Disney reference was not to Disney as a man, but rather what happened to his company after he died, it completely changed, and not for the better.

It is getting better now though, since Eisner has left.

I was actually suprised at his Super Tuesday speech. He came off as likeable and friendly. like Bushs down home charm but able to speak the english language.

Certainly dont like the jeebus part of his platform but not too afraid of it because even if he tried to get it implemented it would get shot down hard.

To contrast that Romneys speech was insincerely phoned in (although his campaign HAD just crashed down in flames around him, couldve had an effect on his oration) Hillarys was to detatched from reality. Obamas and McCains were both Meh to me.

Could be that Huck was the only one who had a better day than expected so after such a grueling day he was the only one truly energized at the result.

I am a shopper. I need food and clothes. Wal-Mart is the most inexpensive place to get it, end of story. Which is good for us minorities. It means we can pay bills, send our kids to school, and put dinner on the table. Plus, its generic prescription program is unbeatable. And despite this left-wingers HATE Wal-Mart. They HATE that they are of service to minorities. They HATE that Wal-Mart employs minorities. Why do I increasingly get the feeling you liberals are all racist?

When I go in Walmart to get shampoo and little things at a discount I never see these bands of roaming fat people with several children (as if there is anything wrong with having children) or people who are less than desirable. I see normal Americans that you see everywhere else.
Of course, don't let logic or truth get in the way of building up your poor self image by making fun of people.

California, eh? Visit a Midwestern Wal-Mart and I guarantee you'll see so many rat tails you'll think you've stumbled onto the set of Willard.
