Don't worry. Much like her republican counterparts, Clinton assumes the American people are stupid, gullible, and beneath her. Obama's success proves otherwise, but I have a feeling she has gotten so comfortable thinking this way, that she is incapable of behaving in any other fashion. In the end, she'll doom herself.

/where did the Clintons get the idea that believability and ethical credibility were their strong points? I always liked them because they were snakes. My kind of snakes.

What is driving Hillary is the all-consuming belief that it is now her turn to get a blowjob in the oval office.

Ah yes, more spin and BS from the "whatever it takes to win" family.

Bill Frist 2008-02-09 11:43:46 AM
How can people even take Clinton seriously anymore? Her entire campaign has just turned into ripping off.

Obama talks about change, Clinton turns around and say SHE is the "real" candidate of change.

Obama uses the slogan "Yes we can", Clinton turns around and uses the slogan "Yes SHE can" (Talk about totally missing the point, by the way)

Obama talks about dreams and vision, Clinton turns around and says SHE is the "real" dream candidate.

Obama portrays himself accurately as an underdog candidate new to washington and going up against an establishment candidate, Clinton turns around and claims (inaccurately) that "she" is the underdog going up against the washington establishement.

what a joke.

FTFA: When chief strategist Mark Penn explained the Feb. 5 Super Tuesday results to reporters Wednesday, he said, "We went through 10 days of wall-to-wall coverage of Sen. Obama and his establishment campaign, of big endorsements, money, ads on the Super Bowl. And Hillary Clinton again bounced back."

Anyone who believes a PR hack like Mark Penn needs to seriously reexamine their critical thinking skills.

I guess "bounced back" means falling from a 20-point lead to a tie in two weeks.

So.. Obama gets most of his donations online, they are only "symbolic" donations and it doesn't represents grassroots success that Clinton is generating by donating to her own campaign???

Does the Clinton campaign really believe that nonsense?

musmatta: why would anyone vote for a such a manipulative biatch.

Older people like her for some reason. The ONLY people I know personally who support her are my grandparents, lifelong democrats now in their 70's. My mother and my wife both say that they would NEVER vote for her, but would consider Obama, although my wife likes McCain because her father was in 'nam.

For some reason that I don't understand one bit, though, the older generation of democrats support Hillary. Maybe it's because older people are more prone to racism, maybe it's something else, but that seems to be the way it is. From reading fark comments, you'd think she had no support whatsoever, but farkers are a younger demographic.

Oh, and those seniors, they ALWAYS vote. Beware.

Challenge maybe. But she'd lose to McCain.

If Obama can get past her underhanded tactics and propaganda, we'll see a a Reaganesque blowout when Obama trounces McCain in the general.

I think I'm going to set up a fundraiser: Every time Clinton lies, changes her campaign slogan, or tries to indirectly smear Obama, I'll donate $1 to Obama. I should hit the donation cap by March.

Very true.

These older voters don't want to give up their power. If Obama is the nomination he's going to lose a good portion of the older voters to McCain. Right now Hillary has more votes than Obama by about a percentage point. Her base isn't as vocal or sexy to cover by the media...but it's much more reliable at the voting booth. They will turn out.

The DNC has it's nuts in a vice right now because there is not going to be a clear winner because they don't have a winner take all system of awarding delegates. They have to work somthing out fairly soon or they are gonna have a fight at the convention. McCain meanwhile is just going to plug away at the swing states.

That's the key. Not to sound too cynical, but seriously can't you see some young pot smoking college student "Yeah man! Yes we can! Gobama! Oh wait, what? The primary was yesterday? Aww dude weak. Oh well."

Obama has a huge amount of support from the youth, if he can get their asses to the polls, he can pull it off.

It is sad, but exected, that Billary would consider B. Hussein Obama, with his admitted ties to Muslinism, to somehow be "establishment" in the USA.

The Clintons are sly and cunning. They have never backed down from a fight. They are the extreme right wing of the Democratic Party and do not represent the mainstream. Yet, they some how manage to convince people that they are the best choice.

This time is looks like the librals have gone too far and a split party will lead to an easy victory for McCain.

God Bless America and Support the Troops.

Hillary is playing the numbers game. She realises that the number of politically aware Dems is far tinier than the number of largely politically ignorant Dems. She's courtuing the "Beer" Dem vote with these tactics. Most people Dems included still get their info on the campaigns from the MSM none of which not even FOX mention the fact that she's running a classic Rovian/Atwoodesque campaign of "smear and lie".

True, especially since Hillary would run to the right of McCain on many issues, just like Bill did against Dole in 1996. Anything to get votes, meaning that the general election would be a scramble to shift all politics even further to the right.

A debate would look like this:
McCain: "I think we might need to consider the security situation in the Middle East, and keep our options open for dealing with Iran."
Clinton: "I don't think my opponent realizes the imminent threat that Iran poses, and when I'm president I will authorize air strikes within the first three months."
McCain: "I've already called for bombing Iran, before you even voted for the Lieberman resolution..."
Clinton: "I've been calling for nuking Iran for 35 years!"

-sigh-

I am not strictly defending the woman and am not sure what to if she does get the dnc nod. However her spin, if you are stupid enough to buy into it is really something.

I want the high road taken, after the election having h. clinton as president probably would be another thing to avoid entirely.

/A good democratic candidate needs that charisma that flows from their being. Like JFK, Bill Clinton, even LBJ with regard to his success on domestic social policy.

Magorn 2008-02-09 12:37:35 PM
There is a very simply explanation as to why:
it is now mathematically impossible for either candidate to win without the superdelegates (new window)

and the Superdelegates are the hard core of the party establishment. SO why is Hillary trying so desperately to look like an outsider?

because she KNOWS how bad it will stink if the party establishment basically overrides the Vox Populi and installs the "establishment" candidate over the charismatic outsider. As ridiculous as it seems its probably only the 5th or sixth most shameless thing she's done this primary season
