As a huge Zeppelin fan, I requested a couple Zep songs be played at our wedding. Since my, now ex-wife, was the one in charge, she said no Zeppelin would be played at the wedding at all. But when it came time to pick a song for our first dance, I suggested this one since it had a little Zep connection to it. She went with it. It was not until the day after the wedding that I told her Robert Plant was the singer! Take that!

Then 7 years later I fell in love with her best friend. So much for that!

If a woman has a problem with Zep, just walk away. It will save you a lot of time/trouble.

In the ex-wife's defense, what the hell from Zep's catalog can you play that's appropriate for a wedding? Traveling Riverside Blues?

Our wedding, we walked into the Church with music from Battlestar Galactica, left to the theme from "Superman". Reception music was The Raiders March. First dance was to the Beatles, last dance was to Warren Zevon.

Did Tom Waits just cover this, or did he write it? So hard to tell because everyone covers his songs.

I still remember watching this video on Radio 1990 on the USA Network back in '83/84. I wonder what that girl looks like now?

1) WTF is the 18 year old version of the singer planning on doing with that 13 year old girl?

2) The Tom Waits version is 1000 x better.

Nice one, though Rockin at Midnight was even better. Alas I've never seen the video at YouTube. Though this song, my favorite of Plant's solo stuff is there (pops)

And then there is this, one of the most awesome things ever (pops)

He's 17, and she turns 15 in about 2 weeks. Plus, in Barbados the age of consent is 12.

Yeah, but it's not him.
What the hell was the director thinking? Have Plant stand half-hidden behind some laundry miming the song over his shoulder at the camera while Not-Zappa stands there not playing the marimba. Genius.

In case you were wondering, we used "Wander My Friends", known as the Adama family theme. Wifey walked in as the big crescendo kicked. I timed it perfectly - and Bear McCreary gave his blessing.

This was released as a complete 50s throwback, but it's funny how 80s it seems now. Plus, it turned me on to Joe Liggins and the Honeydrippers.

wiki:
The Honeydrippers: Volume One is a mini-album released by a semi-all-star band led by rock singer Robert Plant on November 12, 1984 by Es Paranza Records. The recording project originated when Atlantic Records president Ahmet Ertegün wanted an album of his favourite songs from the 1950s recorded. Plant was chosen because Ertegün had seen his pick-up band, The Honeydrippers, performing 1950s standards. Included in this band were former Yardbirds guitarists Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page; the latter was Plant's former bandmate in Led Zeppelin. "Sea of Love" became Plant's biggest selling single.
According to various Led Zeppelin biographies, the success of "Sea of Love" was a blow to Plant's ego, as the song was initially the B-side of the proper single "Rockin' at Midnight" but radio stations flipped the single and played "Sea of Love" much more than the original A-side. Plant has stated in various interviews that the blow he perceived to his own ego as a result, was the reason that nothing more was ever done with the Honeydrippers as he was terribly afraid he'd be regarded as nothing but a "crooner" from that point on. When asked about the Honeydrippers, Plant would simply say "They're asleep."

Yeah this video is total WTF. Couldn't Robert have had let his jacket dry before they filmed? Seriously though, I wonder what the story is behind this vid and why they filmed it like they did. I wonder if they whole video was going to be the younger kids, and someone thought they needed some band members in it, so they rushed in a few random shots?

I once had a woman who was a singer in a Zep tribute band, when trying to explain to me the appeal of Zeppelin, explain that "Kashmir" was a good song to have sex to.

Didn't hit it. I wasn't into her.
