Too bad the video link is super-farked.

Holy wow!!

Traffic.

One truly great band that never seems to get discussed much.

They were awesome.
They occupied a strange area somewhere between prog, rock and folk.

There is a really savage recent clip of Winwood doing "Dear Mr Fantasy" that rocks. It sounds totally vintage.
Most old rockers sound like crap (recent Cream re-union) when they do their classics.

I love this, but I hate everything else Steve Winwood's done.

I liked that about them, they always seemed to back off the prog and the folk just at the right time, and just play some killer, stoner riffs.

Plus, as amazing as Steve Winwood and Jim Capaldi were, Chris Wood was the SECRET WEAPON!

Aw, c'mon, Blind Faith was pretty damn good!

I like the Spencer Davis Group (Winwood co-wrote and recorded "Gimme Some Lovin'" when he was 15) and Blind Faith.

His 80's soft rock stuff was atrocious.

Good link, Steve Winwood has had an amazing career. Before Spencer Davis he played in the UK back-up band for such greats as Muddy Waters, BB King, Howlin Wolf, John Lee Hooker and more. He was friends with Hendrix. Backed Cocker on "With a Little Help from My Friends." And more.

Here is my fav song of his:
Dear Mr. Fantasy (new window)
Same show as the link.
