Sorry, subby, but Bush is what all of the conservatives wanted when they voted for him. Don't pretend that the problems are caused by his "liberal" policies because it just isn't true.

He might not be a rational conservative, but you and yours voted for him. We tried to warn you, but you just kept telling us that we hated him for no reason. Remember all those "there's no hate like liberal hate" lines?

Of course, despite his failures, the author of this article is unapologetic about voting for him twice, and would do it again. That's the most moronic position that I've ever heard of.

Rove's whole strategic vision, implemented by the president, was to put the Democratic Party out of business by co-opting its issues and positions: in other words, beat the enemy by becoming the enemy. But the victim of this beat-down was the Republican Party.

Aaaaand that's about where I stopped reading this gibbering sphincter's tripe.

General Zang 2008-02-09 01:16:51 AM
Subby...

... "STILL be better"?

I wasn't aware that the Canadians were running trillion-dollar yearly deficits, and I wasn't aware that their currency was dropping like a rock, and I wasn't aware that the Canadians had managed to piss off 1/2 the world's population while mortgaging their grandchildren's futures by borrowing trillions from freaking Communist China.

If the next US President can get us merely up into being EQUAL to Canada, at this point, then he will have worked farking miracles.

I think once the Canadian dollar was worth more than ours, we pretty much gave up trying to be better than Canada.

It's not parroting, its quoting. If subby had just put that headline up there without the quotes, then I could understand assuming that the subby agrees with that sentiment. With it in quotes, all we can assume is that subby found those sentences to be noteworthy.

Boy. I think I've heard this during every election for the past ... well since I can remember. I recall when Reagan was first elected, NPR quoted a high-ranking democrat as saying, "Good. Given the economy, after his first term, they'll never elect a Republican for decades."

Actually, this is why we must vote Republican, no matter who it is. BTW, it will be McCain.

The bottom line is if you vote Democrat, there will be another attack. They have no plan to deal with Terror, and they want to show our enemies we are weak in Iraq.

Voting Democrat is a folly we can't risk, no matter what you think about this current administration.

I love this canard that Republicans are stronger on defense. Dead farking wrong but I'll admit their offense is top notch. 9/11 happened on their watch and no amount of spin will ever change that. They dropped the ball and no matter how many "b-b-but Democrats" they throw out, they still failed us as a nation and in return, curtailed our liberties and mortgaged out our children and grandchildrens' futures, while doing absolutely farking nothing to curtail terrorism. You have failed in a spectacular fashion and history will judge you harshly.

Churchill2004 [TotalFark] 2008-02-09 02:01:06 AM
This "Bush is a liberal Democrat!" crap is the frustrated rantings of rightly disaffected Republicans trying (and failing) to place their finger on where it is their party went so miserably wrong. It's not that the Republicans have become "just like Democrats". It's that they've abandoned limited government (which they never fully adopted) in exchange for starting wars and constantly increasing size of government- traditionally Democratic policies that the Republicans have put their own twisted spin on in the form of "neoconservatism".

The problem isn't that the Republicans have become "like" the Democrats but rather that they've become just as authoritarian as the Democrats, if not more so. It requires thinking outside the simple and woefully deficient linear left-right spectrum to understand it, which most Republican partisans (and partisans of all stripe) can't do with their ingrained our team vs. their team thinking. They know something's horribly wrong, they're just at a loss to explain it because doing so requires breaking their own carefully constructed though paradigms.

ridiculous fear tactics were SO 2004. You're out of style, down and out of the loop, rudderless in the political waters. It'd be like wearing a fluffed up mullet at a rock concert. You missed the boat by about 20 years, but shiat, at least you're still trying, damnit.

Oh, right. Hang on. "Tax Rebates, Borrow from the Chinese and Spend". The new Republican ideal. Sorry. Forgot for a moment.

I love how liberals assume that the threat is over: it's not. The truth is there is very likely a plan in place right now where the time to strike is when this country has its next election at the very crucial time when Bush has to leave office.

No, get it right. Clinton failed to stop Bin Laden, and refused to correct the problem. Why do I have to remind you of this? And the intelligence community continued to stand by their error even after the transfer of power to Bush.

Bush is off the hook, and Clinton should have been grilled by Congress for his failure.

And any American citizen who is aware that the attack could well occur if a Democrat is elected should naturally know fear. It's nothing to be afraid of. What would be stupid is to hand the torch over to these socialists who have no idea of what national security actually entails.

I love how being hysterically afraid of terrorists is often presented as some kind of bravery.

Al-Qaeda is not like a corporation. Osama doesn't call people on their office phones. The typical cell is a bunch of morons who think Osama is cool judged on what they've seen on the news. How can you defend against a loose collection of nutters? How can you defend against some lone guy strapping a bomb to his chest and going to an office building? You can't. You aren't perfectly safe. Get over it.

Btw, this might be news to you, but on 9/11, Bush, a Republican, was president. 9/11 still happened.
