I remember when that came out and got popular on mainstream radio, and nobody had any idea what to make of it. Amazing tune, and often underrated.

Y'know, if you imagine Annie Lennox as the Joker, it puts a whole different vibe on the song.
Ghrr - stampa - stampa.

"This video is not available in your country"

Can someone tell me what Canada did to Eurythmics and/or youtube to warrant that filtering of awesome videos?

This brings back memories. I was in art school in '83, the lounge in the dorms had cable TV and this video was on heavy rotation. Enough to despise them and all the other rotated pop tunes.

But a few days ago, I was in a coffee shop and this interesting song came on. It was Annie Lennox's new solo track. She still has one of the most beautiful voices around.

/and yes, i'd hit her...then and now

god i hate that song

dave stewart was better before eurythmics
as a keyboard nerd for bruford

his studied rock personae is as vapid as annie lennox's.

Was just out of college...met a pretty blond girl at a birthday party for a roommate's brother...we saw The Eurhythmics somewhere in DC in very early 83 (or maybe spring)...a year later she bore me a son.

Good grief.

I was 6. I watched the video with my babysitter, Trisha. It's still a great song!

It's a great song, but they heavily borrowed from Squeeze

Yea lots of people were using synthesizers in rock back then. It wasn't considered a total art-fag thing to do.

The stuff on the charts is always ripped from what came earlier... that's just how it works. Some artist with a vision makes a new sound, then someone else comes along a few years later and dumbs it down a bit, adds a snappy melody and a nice hook, and POW. A hit!
