I'm listening to "Vienna" right now, so I'm getting a kick out of these replies.

Oh wait. I'm the only one replying.

Uh.

Still getting a kick nonetheless. That drunk bastard, I love him.

I long for the days when his greatest hits weren't all with his car.

Can't they get an artist whose fans are more prone to a violent, stadium-burning riot?

Pretty awesome that his wife was born after he had already written most of his good songs and is about 5 years older than his daughter.

Being a fellow from Long Island, and in his fifties, Joel will be well aware of the history of Shea Stadium.

Marvelous Marv Thornberry's Mets.
The '64 World's fair.
The Beetle's first gig in the states.
The Amazing '69 Mets.
Joe Willie Namath and the Jets.
The New York Sack Exchange.
Billy Buckner's boner.

Plus he's always been sort of a smarmy emotional guy anyway, which will no doubt add to the occasion. Good choice, kudos to whomever made it.

I've seen him in concert a few times, my mother loves him and listens to his greatest hits 1 and 2 albums nonstop sometimes, but he's really let himself go lately, he's quite a porker now.

Headline is kinda misleading, Billy Joel originally planned to play in late October, after the season was over and be the last thing to happen after Shea was done.

The Mets told him no, they're going to be the last thing to happen at Shea. (With the addition of Santana, hopefully we're talking World Series.)

/been at Shea in October
//not always enjoyable weather

Maybe he and Pedro can place bets on cock fights prior to and after the game....
