Rockstar packs house with annual rare-event.

Apparently, Subby never heard of concept of Supply & Demand.

Hate how people champion things like this, Green Day has toured more than most bands charging the high ticket price popular bands do, without a doubt he's personally into at least the 50 million range by now, he charges 7 bucks for a small concert and it's "showing he's still all about the music".

Spend a few of your millions to do a FREE world tour and i'll believe you care more about the music than anything.

The band's newest image says otherwise.

Pretty easy to say its "about the music" when you can wipe your ass with dollar bills.
He's a cool dude, but ya know?

I'm sure all the people who work for them, roadies to managers, would love that idea.

/Saw Green Day at Giants Stadium in 2004. Got tickets for 45.00 that would have cost at least 150.00-200.00 from most any other band.
//Pinhead Gunpowder is great. But can we get the new Green Day album any time soon?

That's kind of what i meant when i suggested Greenday spend their own money to fund a free tour, they would pay for everything and give the fans a break.

It's all about the music, man.

That seems like a good idea, but suggest that CEOs offer some of their corporation's product for free and people look at you like the second coming of Joseph Stalin. If people (like me) are going to steal albums online, I think paying a little dough for a live show is a fair trade. Unless you're paying to see U2, then you deserve the gulag, along with Bono and The "Edge."

I remember seeing them here in Baltimore at the 8x10 for 3 bucks.
I think it was the fall of 92. My wife had to pay $5 because she
wasn't 21 yet. Show rocked. They scrapped the set list half way
through and played requests.

Good to see that Aaron Cometbus is still alive.

Fark is living proof that shows the amount of success a person/group has is directly proportional to the amount of hate they receive.

Play for free? Only someone jealous of someones money could come up with that gem of an idea. It can't be "just about the music" unless BJA pays for the building, the security, the staff, the crew, promotions, or whatever 10,000 things it takes to run a big name show out of his pocket.

If we left it up to the Ramones, quality punk would be as popular as root canals. However, when Green Day brings it out to the masses and gets people in all walks of life excited about punk, they become sellouts.

There is nothing anybody can do to make some people happy. It takes very little to feed this type of negativity.

If you need to go out of your way to say Green Day sucks and offer up groups nobody gives two shiats about, just go kill yourself. The world already has enough people that have no tolerance for success.

Isn't Cometbus still being published?

Of course they packed the house. Novelty sells. Music is probably pretty good too.

I've always liked ""Life During Wartime", and someone filmed it at one of these shows.
Their cover of "Big Yellow Taxi" is good too.

Issue 50 (supposedly the last) came out about a year and a half ago. About the same time he put out I Wish There Was Something I Could Quit which wasn't all that great, and he just kinda up and disappeared.
Speaking as someone with a Cometbus tattoo, this concerns me greatly.

Actually the band's name is pinhead gunpowder, named after a tasty tea they used to sell at the Arcata, California Co-Op.

That's dumb...seriously...if you're going to make that argument, you could at least say that they should charge only enough to cover their costs so they're not making any money for a show...to say they should PAY to go on a tour...pay all the other people involved for like a year-year and a half...i'm sure you think they should pay for producing all the merch themselves and give it all away for free too....that is retarded. I have no idea how much the expenses were for the American Idiot tour, but I'm sure 3 people couldn't pay for it themselves, even if they are rock stars,...if they were to pay, they'd show up at small clubs where only a select few of their fanbase could see them and they'd be screwing out a LOT of people who love them and want to have the experience to see them live which totally goes against the theory that a band would want to just play for fans if they're purposly leaving out 95% of their fanbase just to avoid charging what someone would make in a few hours at work

I saw Green Day twice during the American Idiot tour and they were great and it was about $40-$50 which isn't bad at all for a show...especially when you consider bands like the Rolling Stones were charging like $500

//"Milano Mosh" is still funny after all these years.
