Sure, and if he'd just waited for his license it would have been such a great idea.

My friend Tony learned to drive on his parent's 1966 or -67 VW Bug. When it came time for his driving test he asked this other friend of our's named Mike to go with him because Mike had an automatic and Tony was nervous about shifting in front of the driving test guy. Trouble was Mike's automatic transmission was attached to a '68 Pontiac Tempest with a V8. So at the driving test Tony hit the gas like he would have on the Bug and patched out. Mike said the car went about a block and then slowly turned around and he knew it was all over for Tony.

and also, is a permit in aus the same as a licence here, becuase 24 seems a bit old to have a learners permit...

Hoon laws were basically put in place to stop 'young' people doing stupid stuff in cars.
Such as Drag races on local streets and what not.

It differes from state to state, but in most cases, 3rd offence and they turn your car into a Cube.

The kind that kills people or the kind you have 30 minutes to move? I need to know what reference we're going to be using becuase I've never watched Cube.

Leaners at 16, Provisonal license at 17 (for 3 years), so you can be on your Open license at 20. So yes, 24 is a little slow. To be expected of someone willing to do burnouts in a Police carpark though...

Hoon law

24 is a bit old, but he might have lost his license previously.

I'm a very horrible driver so I decided to make the streets a little safer for the rest of the world and not drive. By the way some people drive I think other people should consider doing the same.

/Has more fun being a passenger anyway

Probably not a good idea whether you have your actual license or not.

At least he wasn't doing it by John Travolta's house.

Speak for yourself. I can get everywhere I need to go by transit. Need to go further? By train. It's certainly cheaper than having a car.

Ya, I wouldn't mind being able to legally drive, but I never really got the motivation to do so, with people who were close to me dying in car accidents and such.

And if you don't have those options? "Rely on the kindness of strangers"? Some people don't have the option of public transport, because it dosen't exist.

/jus sayin'

Thirty some odd years ago when I was in high school. I rode with a friend to the local police station to pay a parking ticket. He had a very hot Chevell. As we were leaving the parking lot he revved the engine a little. I looked at him and said no balls. I was wrong. He burned rubber through 3 gears. We were a mile down the road back at school before they caught up to give him the ticket. To this day he still blames me...

The Falcon name lives on here in Oz. There are like 20 different Ford cars all named Falcon.

/On temporary assignment in Oz.

Some things never change.

When I was 14, four of us guys snuck my friend's mom's Charger out about 1 a.m. and we were doing donuts in the jr. high school parking lot. All of a sudden there were lights everywhere as two cops stopped us.

Unlike today's cops who would've tazed us and tossed us in jail, they escorted us home to my friend's mom who kept us up the rest of the night with The Lecture. She also never told my parents which was pretty cool.

Ahhhh, my first car was a '61 Falcon Wagon, same color as in the ad above. I think they had Falcons being made in South America at least though the 80s. Apparently Ford had sold them the body forms or something.

Except I didn't do that burnout crap in the police lot since the Federal Building parking lot had more room! The FBI did eventually roust us out of their yard. Fortunately we had correctly figured that if we got caught, they were not going to be interested in arresting a bunch of bored brats.

/whew

Reminds me of something that happened in my H.S. Driver's Ed class in Florida. Classmates of mine got busted for drinking beer from a thermos while driving on the practice course.

I rarely see kids around here race each other, they like hanging out in the Kroger's parking lot and listening to crappy rap songs.

We need some kind of law here in my town to keep moran tourists in line. Most seem to lack the ability to read a farking yield sign, which is god forbid,at a roundabout(around our old courthouse). I'm surprised I haven't seen or been in more traffic accidents there.

/Despite a roundabout,I'm actually in Kentucky.
//Brilliant city people WANT to add more to a busy highway heading out of town
///That should end well,if it ever gets built.
////Don't like tourists.

Hell, he should have called up a few people and set up a sideshow, and the cops could have gotten a few idiots all at once! Too bad someone didn't videotape his act of stupidity so we could all see it on YouTube.

I'm 20 and only got my Learners last year, before the new laws came into Queensland - I've been too lazy to go for my Provisionary licence
