Another silly Catholic thing.....the ONLY times "exorcism" even comes up in the New Testament the only thing you need to really do is invoke the name of Christ. Where did they come up with all their freaky other stuff is beyond me.

Seeing as to how this happened in fundie country, they'll charge him with practicing religion without a license, and her with leaving the scene of an exorcism.

In my city about 12 years ago there was a coffee stop set up by a local Catholic group. They would give warm soup and coffee to homless etc. One day a guy walked in and left with severe rug burn on the back of his head and a broken wrist. Apparently he was evil and they needed to cure him of this. The group was ordered out of and banned from ever coming back to town.

/true story.
//my best friends Mom was one of the people banned.
///she was beyond batshiat crazy.

Why is this guy being charged? I have faith that he was following God's will.

This was in Texas? Why wasn't a shotgun involved?

"Well, I know it looks like I shot her 11 or 12 times, Yer Honer, but I was really aimin' at The Devil. And he, um ... ducked."

Come on, he killed her and wants to get away with it because he is "insane". Next thing he'll say is he's been hearing voices or seeing space aliens.

How do I get licensed as a professional exorcist?

Other than memorizing the bible in Latin how is an "expert" more qualified to practice fake magic than a novice?

I'm not sure which is sadder, that the woman died being exorcised by her husband or the fact that the best the news could do for the bereaved family member quote was an ex-step-granddaughter.

Falcc 2008-02-03 07:35:46 PM
It's not a real exorcism unless a Taoist does it. I don't believe this bullshiat power of christ stuff is good for anything except dislodging pea soup. Now Taoism, that'll get the evil spirits from your house lickity split.

I agree with you 2008-02-03 07:46:27 PM
I felt like beatin the devil out of my ex wife,,,would that have counted as an exorcism ??

/Just wonderin,,,

No really, always call in the professionals.
You might fall down those stairs if they're not up to code.

1. Havneq - Catholics are not Bible literalists, the Bible contradicts itself endlessly, and none of it's writers ever imagined anyone following what they wrote word for word without interpretation.

2. If you talk to a few Roman Catholic preists, (and I get the feeling most of the people that posted only know about the Catholic Church what they see on "that thar tee-vee") Most priests are skeptical of exorcisms and believe that in general when someone asks for an exorcism, what is needed is a locked ward and some psychotropic drugs.

3. The Vatican tends to be VERY skeptical also, although technically does not disavow the practice, but if a priest performs one and Rome finds out, he's gonna have some 'splainin to do...

4. This man is from Texas, and I guarantee that, just like Andrea Yates' screwed up pastor, this guy is NOT Catholic, he is a FUNDIE.

5. Those who follow the Flying Spaghetti Monster should remember that the Catholic Church does not disagree with Evolution.

6. Bill Donohue is a dick. He really would do all those things they said on South Park.

ReverendJasen 2008-02-03 08:56:16 PM
Yeah, you don't call in the "experts" because exorcism is as fake and made up as the religion that performs it.

You can merely hire an out-of-work actor off the street for 20 bucks and a highball.

This was NOT Catholic. Why is it that people see the word "exorcism" and automatically think Catholic? Stop watching so many damn movies. Most of these "exorcisms", especially those of this sort, are performed by the fundie, television-preacher-types. Much more disgusting than Catholics.
