Here's a question for you folks:

We have Time Warner cable and an HD Television with an HD-DVR and we subscribe to the HD channels. All of 'em. I want to set it up so the kids can watch the game in HD on the big TV, but on the program guide for our local Fox affiliate HD Channel (Cleveland) it doesn't have the Super Bowl or the pre-game show listed as having those nice little bold "HD" letters in the info box.

Really it was WWII that truly pulled us out of the depression. Many of his policies were declared unconstitutional and the greatest scam ever enacted, Social Security, was enacted under his administration.

He more-or-less destroyed the gold standard, beginning the rapid decline of the dollars value over the past 70+ years. His taxes and programs discouraged investment and created great uncertainty in the US. Books such as "FDR's Folly" go into detail about this.

Yeah, I know. It's pathetic that so many otherwise intelligent people look back upon the New Deal and see it as something successful rather than as something that kept the US mired in the Depression. (Of course, the New Deal was just a continuation of Hoover's failed statist schemes.) But at least FDR gave Alger Hiss a job!
