What does a yellow light mean?

Slow down.

What... does... a... yellow... light... mean?

One of the best scenes in sit-com history.

Somebody clue me in - why wouldn't a driver take a fare from a credit card instead of cash?

Is it so they can under-report their tips? That happened sometimes in the restaurant biz...

Most likely, that and it costs money to cover a credit card transaction. That's why you see small stores that require 5 or 10 buck purchases before they accept a credit card.

Which is against the rules that Visa, MC and others define. If you do shop at a place that has any fees or minimum purchase amounts for using credit (not debit), you can dispute the whole charge with your bank. If it happens enough, Visa can yank their ability to take their cards.

First off it is pretty shady when a place charges $.50 for a credit transaction that costs them 2.5%. It almost seems like they one day woke up and thought they discovered a new revenue stream... but apparently they didnt read their merchant agreement. Sometimes I point it out to them, and the guy always says he is just passing along the Credit charges, which is still against the rules.

Basically you are paying Visa,MC, Amex, Discover 2.5% for the courtesy of saving you a trip to the bank.

Debit transactions are different, that is basically between you, the merchant and your bank. Credit transactions are regulated by Visa, MC, Amex etc... I only mention it because know some asshat will come in here and open their mouth because they dont know the difference.

Beginning of show: Bobby's practising glass box pantomime in the garage.
¾ of the show later. Iggy walks in and collides with invisible object and exclaims "Would somebody move that damn box!"

Oh, I know it's against Visa and MC's TOS, but out in the styx, not many bumpkins know enough to complain.

That makes it even better... I say let them charge you the fee and dispute all of them and get your money back. When the merchant has to eat the entire tab a few times, they will think the 2.5% thing is a great deal. It is just pure greed on the merchant's part.

The funniest part is if they get enough chargebacks, their fee will can rise to 4-5%.

I always pay the tip in cash. The server can decide what to report. They work hard.

"It's sneaky, it's underhanded," said Bhairavi Desai, executive director of the group. "They're holding a sword over drivers' necks."

how is it sneaky to tell you the rules, and tell you that you will be monitored that you abide by the rules, which you agreed to follow, then do the same?!

the only one holding "a sword" (or was it a gun, or guillotine ...) over drivers necks, are the drivers themselves. if they choose to break the rules, they choose to not drive any longer. the choice to be a good driver, or spit on the rules-book, is theirs.

this Bhairavi Desai is an total a-hole for being such a liar, and for assuming we are retarded enough to believe her bull-shiat. She is trying to win public opinion points by lying about the truth of the situation.

The truth is, some cabbies want to be able to cheat on their taxes, and credit card machines hurt their ability to steal from us, the USA Public/Our-Own-Government, which we the people support with our hard earned tax payments. We all pay taxes, why should they not have to? Do they think they are above the rest of the people?

fark you tax cheats, if you want to steal from our goverment, DONT ASK US TO HELP YOU WITH THAT!

Just obey the rules you SAID you would obey. Or were you lying when you signed up?

as a Former Taxi Driver in Cleveland, OH between 1998 and 2003 I can tell you that, because I had to pay for my own gas I needed some cash each day. On top of that, when I did turn In credit card Slips, the Company kept 10%
