I apparently chose Obama first. Then Hillary/McCain equally. Which I already knew.

bitteroldman 2008-02-02 11:24:18 PM
I got Obama, Hill, Paul, and Mac right.
I knew the other two were Mitt and Huck but I did'nt know which was which. (like there's a difference)

CravenMorehead 2008-02-02 11:51:56 PM
Obama for me but I already knew that. It would be nice if people actually took the time to see where their favorite candidate stands on issues most important to them before they vote, but that ain't gonna happen.

cmunic8r99 [TotalFark] 2008-02-03 12:02:25 AM
FTFA: As for Iran, well, they have a right to nuclear weapons if they want them and the Crandall administration will engage in direct diplomacy.

uh, what?

Carth 2008-02-03 12:07:48 AM
Obama was my first selection McCain came up second which is exactly as i've been planing to vote anyways.

hillary4real 2008-02-03 12:09:56 AM
Although i support Hillary fully, McCain is apparently a better choice.
Obama is not a choice, he is a disaster.

While this is a valid set of beliefs to hold even if I disagree, I would urge you to don some protective gear.

mrexcess [TotalFark] 2008-02-03 12:13:05 AM
Hillary Clinton is a big proponent of the death penalty and wants to expand the list of capital offenses? I did not know that. Not surprising, but I didn't know. Blegh. Why is anyone even considering her as the Democratic nominee?

random_thoughts 2008-02-03 12:16:19 AM
I got:

1. Gravel
2. Hillary
3. Obama

Gravel!? I didn't know he had any positions from his mumbling during debates.

\ Hillary\Gravel 2008

beilkesays 2008-02-03 12:16:22 AM
i learned that if i am faced with many long winded solutions, i will choose one of the first two- just so i dont have to read the others.

Believe it or not, he appears to have actually toned down his schtick a little. Heretofor I've seen that farktag used primarily to post pictures of Obama morphed to have really large ears, capitalizing his middle name, et cetera.

Murkanen 2008-02-03 12:17:30 AM
Obama for me, only things we apparently disagree on are the death penalty, gun control, and how to deal with Iran/Iraq.

On the other hand, Romney, McCain, and Ron Paul each scored exactly the same but for different reasons, 6.0.

/with Paul it was agreement with regards to Iran/Iraq
//Gravel is my second choice apparently
///Clinton is a distant third

steveGswine 2008-02-03 12:18:01 AM
beilkesays: i learned that if i am faced with many long winded solutions, i will choose one of the first two- just so i dont have to read the others.

This is the basis of the American two-party system.

Both founding fathers wanted it this way.

McCain first, then Paul.

Hillary last.

gugnaut 2008-02-03 12:20:33 AM
I liked Obama then McCain. Especially disliked Hillary. Seems about right.

same reason they considered Kerry. unimpeachable record of being white, normal, rich, establishement, and uncontraversial.

DasDingus 2008-02-03 12:27:24 AM
Hate to be one of the whining Paul supporters but isn't "firmly pro-life" over-simplifying his view? He's personally pro-life but from everything I've heard he opposes federal regulation of abortion.

mahoot 2008-02-03 12:35:27 AM
OBAMA! First without a surprise.

Huckabee is came out last and would be my worst nightmare.

No, he has introduced federal legislation to prevent abortion.

These things are a bit bogus because the don't measure differences between positions. They just give the 'favorite' position then all the other ones are considered equally as bad.

NEWSFLASH:

You all ACTUALLY chose Kang.

Don't blame me. I voted for Kodos.

That was fascinating - I did end up with Obama both with the summaries and the survey at the bottom of the page, but McCain was my second choice with the summaries and Clinton my second choice with the quiz. Thanks for posting this link, subby!

WFern 2008-02-03 12:47:14 AM
I agreed with all of Obama's points, with the exception of a border fence (on which I'm unsure). It was nice, regardless, to see my support for his candidacy yet again reaffirmed.

I didn't realize, however, that Hillary had supported the fence program, nor that Romney went as far as to support a Constitutional ban on same-sex marriage.

Huckabee was also suprisingly sane on most issues.

Ron Paul disturbs me in that, much as I agree that using force against Iran would be disastrous, the notion of allowing them to achieve a nuclear weapon with no concern is irresponsible. We should, of course, do more to disable and dismantle our own massive stockpile.

McCain had me on environmental issues.

moothemagiccow 2008-02-03 12:48:00 AM
Ron Paul was really easy to spot. I ended up with Obama.

I made a point of saying "President Obama" aloud the other day. Only to myself for the sake of "trying it out" and imagining the best outcome for this election.

It brought a smile to my face.

VTSquire 2008-02-03 12:50:36 AM
holy crap, I got them all. Shame on me.

/why Ron paul gotta be last?
//at least they included him

Craptastic 2008-02-03 12:51:13 AM
Obama: 37.0
Clinton: 31.0
Gravel: 27.0
Paul: 11.0
McCain: 7.0
Huckabee: 5.0
Romney: 3.0

There you have it. I was happy to vote for Obama for Illinois Senate and US Senate. I'm voting for him on Tuesday's primary, and in the GE (hopefully).

Clinton would be a nose-holding vote, and the rest crazy idiots.

hoihoi8 2008-02-03 12:52:42 AM

You're kidding, right? Please tell us you're kidding.

I made a point of saying "President Obama" aloud the other day. Only to myself for the sake of "trying it out" and imagining the best outcome for this election.

You're probably going to be disappointed on Super Tuesday as the latest aggregate polls have the Clinton machine clownstompping Obama(5 points or more) in 13+ states...

I could vote for Obama or Romney. Never for Clinton or McCain.

hoihoi8: I knew them all. Do I get a cookie?

Apparently not, since I also knew them all.

The test at the bottom also affirmed the exact order of preference I already had:

1. Romney
2. McCain
3. Huckabee
4. Paul
5. Obama
6. Gravel
7. Shrillary

Saiga410 2008-02-03 12:57:27 AM
Hated each and every position statement. Hey I am hard to please.

On the test, Obama came in solidly dead last with 3 points. Hilldog and Gravel each got 4.

Actually didn't see the test at the bottom at first (too lazy to scroll down)...

Test may be questionable:

Huck-A-Schmuck
Romney
McAmnesty
Obama
The Rest...

Whereas my current list based on watching EVERY debate and actually reading the candidates positions/issues on their websites is:

Romney
Obama
Not voting for President

/Realizing that a vote for Kang is a vote for Kodos, etc.

maudibjr 2008-02-03 01:06:29 AM
Apparently I favor gravel. but no one scored higher than 11.

I'm voting for kodos, you Heathan.

Hilary 0.0
Gravel 0.0
Huckabee 0.0
McCain 0.0
Obama 0.0
Paul 0.0
Romney 0.0

It's probably best that I don't vote.

RockIsDead 2008-02-03 01:12:28 AM
BAH!

If all you're going on is what their stand on an issue is you're setting yourself up for lots of disappointment.

Try picking based on ability to actually get some of their stands implemented in a real world politic.

McManus_brothers [TotalFark] 2008-02-03 01:13:26 AM
I knew the real candidates just from the positions. I am now going to turn off CNN and politico.com and read a book.

SomeoneDumb 2008-02-03 01:23:37 AM
As Someonedumb, let me admit that I'm less interested in policies right now than I am judgment and character. It's still a long time (politically) until November, and much can happen.

My goal, now, is to get Obama through the primary, and I'm not surprised I picked him from the list.

His beliefs and principles will probably be firmer than any stated position, and that's what I look for in a candidate. I'm frankly less interested in how they see a particular issue, which will still have to go through the usual Washington meat grinder to be enacted, then in how they may deal with new stuff that comes up.

Obama can begin nudging the monstrosity that is Washington toward a better way of doing its business, and that's my most critical issue.

Hector Remarkable 2008-02-03 01:23:47 AM
May I take this opportunity to say Mike Huckleberry DIAF?

tallguywithglasseson [TotalFark] 2008-02-03 01:32:13 AM
I got Obama first, which is OK, because I was already supporting him.

/still stoked I got to see Jeff Tweedy w/Golden Smog at the rally today

Kang 21.0
Kodos 19.0

Either way our planet is doomed! DOOMED!

randomjsa 2008-02-03 01:34:58 AM
More people should read this, maybe if the Republicans actually understood what McCain's record and history were, they'd support somebody else... like an actual Republican.

tallguywithglasseson [TotalFark] 2008-02-03 01:37:37 AM
IrishSamurai9: Test may be questionable:

Actually every answer on there is straight from the candidates mouths, the only thing is the weight you put on each question, i.e. the "Somewhat important" or "Very important" or "Not very important" thing.

What it doesn't measure is how you feel about a candidate or trust that they're telling the truth.
