I saw some footage of this on the news last night - this cat does not look like she's enjoying herself. I say, if the cat climbs onto the board from the sand, let her surf. Otherwise, the owner's full of shiat, and he's forcing this cat to participate in his hobby - which is cruel.

Yes. Poor cat. Domingo Pianezzi needs his dick scratched. Hard. By an army of cats.

After all, even given the most charitable interpretation of this photo, most observers would be hard-pressed to say that she looks like she's enjoying herself.

I dunno.

When cats are involuntarily put in water they usually maul you and then run away so you can't put them back.

If the cat doesn't like being put on the surf board why is the guy not ripped to shreds and why hasn't the cat run away?

Weird.

RealFarknMcCoy2 2008-02-02 05:59:30 PM
OK, found some footage on youtube (pops - NOT a rick-roll) This cat is NOT interested in surfing, and is NOT enjoying herself. I hope this guy gets arrested for animal cruelty, fined heavily, and has the cat taken away and adopted out to someone who doesn't torture it.

I had a cat who loved water. I know from cats who love water. This is NOT a cat who loves water.

Mister Tibbs 2008-02-02 06:01:34 PM
If that cat did not want to be on that surf board, then there is NO way the cat would be anywhere near it. The cat clearly likes to swim/play in the water, because if she didn't, then there is no way anyone could force it.

Trust.

The only reason he hasn't been ripped to shreds is because he's got a nice, thick wetsuit on. Look at the youtube footage - this cat is frantic to get out of that water...

Bullshiat. The cat is NOT a willing participant. Notice, in the footage, how the arsehole who owns her never, ever lets her out of his grip. He knows damned well the cat would run away if she could!

Not all cats are alike. There's that turkish breed that enjoys swimming and has some water resistant qualities to its coat.

Mister Tibbs 2008-02-02 06:05:15 PM
Ok, just watched the footage - and I take back EVERYTHING about the cat being a willing participant.

Owner needs testicles removed by feral cats.

Thats just wrong.

This cat is not a Turkish Van, and this cat is NOT enjoying being out on that surfboard. In the footage, whenever she gets close to shore, she jumps off the board and starts swimming, but he scoops her up and puts her back on the board. Believe me, I've had a couple of cats who absolutely loved playing in the water - so I do know there are cats who like water, but this isn't one of them.

vlakorados 2008-02-02 06:09:43 PM
I agree, that is one unhappy pussy. Douche.

Personally I'd never put a cat on a surfboard. I can barely stay on one long enough to enjoy it myself. Poor kitty would probably get eaten by a sea turtle after I wipe out.

Artamnesia 2008-02-02 06:10:21 PM
You can tell from the video that the cat is terrified. That's why it cries and tries to climb up the guy while he's forcing it to the end of the board. Whatta creep.

Yeah I made it to the 5th photo too before something in the background got my attention.

Surfing cat? Meh. That guy is surfing with the wrong pussy. Unless that's his "angle".

Bah, how do you think we subjugated other animals? Do you think a horse wanted to pull a plow at first? A cow wanted to eat continuously then get chopped up? Sheep stand around doing nothing all the time?

This is a start of a new beginning. After several generations we could build a new breed of cat. One that learns how to swim and surf and can learn from its elders... all it takes is conditioning and continuous positive reenforcement. Give the cat a small sardine when finished surfing. Don't give it to him if he doesn't. Things like that can create a community of cats able to swim and surf at will.

Sheesh, why not we take all feral cats, round them up and "adopt them to a loving family". Yah, take cats out of their natural or unnatural enviroment and enslave them to a life of servitude. To serve YOUR selfish need for "affection". Just because your a crazy cat lady trying to "save" that homeless cat does NOT mean that cat wants to be "saved".

How about we "save" those thin Ethiopians or those Vietnamese from their life of living in the forests or sands? What? That would be cruel and wrong?

YAH think about that when you hate on this guy surfing with a cat.

That cat is studying the face and picking his line. That is the look of raw mental calculation, and is one of the rarely verbalized joys of the sport.

Forcing an animal into a situation which it HATES and in which it fears for its life on a daily basis IS animal cruelty. Do you think it would be cruel for some giant to pick you up by the shirt collar and drop you into a gigantic running washing machine (where you couldn't touch the sides) on a daily basis?? Because that's basically what this arsehole is doing to this cat....

Doucebaggery fo sho, but it's a far cry from cruelty like starvation or willfully injuring an animal. I say we go take his girlfriend in photo #5 as punishment for his douchebaggery.

I'm not a cat fan, I like the doggies but I wouldn't put a dog on a surfboard unless it swam out to me and got on it him/herself. It can hang ten all day if it wants.

On second thought, I can't imagine the hell saltwater plays on the poor thing's nostrils and eyes, not to mention how to brush all that salty, sandy shiat out of it's fur.

I was once on a canoe trip in Michigan many years ago and we were on this lake in the middle of nowhere when we spotted something moving in the water. It was about 400 yards from shore. It didn't look like a duck so we paddled over to see it.

It was a cat.

I nearly dropped my paddle in the water.

First time I had ever seen a cat swim. We picked it up set it back on shore.

I still don't know here that cat came from. Campers must be.
