This is key for Obama. It looks up that important "Oh yeah, I read a lot" vote.

There's a Randal Flagg joke in there somewhere, but I'll be damned if I can find it.

Why did I read "Stephen King" as "Stephen Hawking"? I should have known a British professor had better things to do than care about the American election...

But didn't Match Game ALWAYS have celebrities?

So Stephen King's a liberal activist. Who knew?

Yawn...

I read it as Stephen Colbert at first

Blame the media; if they ran a story entitled "Local Economist Endorses Hillary Clinton", would you even bother reading it?

I care about what Stephen King, Chuck Norris, and Jumpy the Dancing Chimp think about politics about as much as I look to the local Recorder of Deeds for guidance about writing, movie-making, and the history of the Ed Sullivan Show.

Any relevant bible verses to make me feel better?

Also, got my Mom and Dad onboard--they were both Edwards people.

hmmm... here's one with a different spelling of "Barack":
Judges
5:1 Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,

And this one goes with "a touch of the noodely appendage", for that crowd:
Zecharia
5:1 Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll.

And the famous (although this is three verses)
Matthew
5:1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom ...

Say what you want about King (I often do), but he's better than Dan Brown.

Bill Frist 2008-02-02 05:29:56 PM

Even the snob to end all snobs, Roger Ebert himself, eventually came around to realizing that Stephen King isn't typical dreck:

hahahah

wait... you think Rober Ebert is some kind of snob? Are you joking. His favorite films are your typical award winners and big Dinsey family films. He isn't a snob at all.

Also, he is a movie reviewer, not a lit critic.

King IS better than your typical genre dreck. So what? He is still a very sub-par writer who pumps out far more crap than worthwhile pulp.

He gave a thumbs-up to Speed II: Cruise Control.

That hardly qualifies him for snobdom.
