So, Ron Paul had to get the government to provide him with a spot to speak? Isn't that a bit hypocritical?

I call B.S. No way is the Colorado Convention Center mentioned in the Constitution.

Ford? More like AMC

/Romney's father is responsible for the Gremlin and the Pacer

//The AMC Javelin though, that was cool.

It's run by a private organization on behalf of the city. It is rented out.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks this guy looks like a sleazy used car salesman.

/No offense to sleazy car salesmen

I doubt anything is being "provided" without cost.

YOU GONNA GET financially RAPED?

President Bush came to Denver yesterday for a closed fundraiser at a private home in one of the mansion districts here. He raised $700,000 for a (R) senate candidate.

I would like to know the total taxpayer cost of this trip, including Air Force One flying and using the local Air Force base, overtime for local law enforcement, etc.

They shut down all four lanes of SB I-25 for at least a half hour at rush hour, to make way for the imperial motorcade. Traffic on the interstate was parked at a dead stop for 10 miles.

Ahh, the beauty of being the incumbent. Both sides, both parties do it. All part of the game. You don't remember the Republicans screaming about Bill's haircut?

No doubt. Wait until the DNC gets here in August. The great part will be all of the people downtown that are wasted because they're not used to drinking at 5280 feet.

Then both parties should enthusiastically get behind a "No Air Force One for fundraising. Not yours." movement, yes?
No partisan campaigning on the public dime, period, by law?

I agree - what is the cost? Bush was here this morning just across the river in Parkville, MO doing the same thing at 9 a.m. for Senator Sam Graves (R)

WTF? I've heard of this before. I know both parties do it. Neither ought to be able to do so on the public dime.

Would someone be so kind as to direct me to an article with the most objective and current analysis of this issue?

You should try living/working in the DC area. I can't even begin to count the number of times I've been caught somewhere because a massive motorcade shut down a major road like Constitution Avenue -- in the middle of farking rush hour, which is already ridiculous around here.

So yeah, I feel your pain.

I knew it was a good thing I took C-470 and 285 to get home last night.

And looks like I'd better consider going the roundabout route tonight, too...
