You dont need 3 guitars in your band unless your a Lynard Skynard tribute band

Very cool!! Thanks, subby!

They probably got so tired of playing it by then, that they decided to change it up. Good on 'em!!
[i like how they rock it up starting around the 3:40 mark.]
The bassist is rather underrated [i forget his name], he does some great melodic work, especially on the Vitalogy album.
I'm not sure who the drummer would've been on this clip...Jack Irons, maybe?... but he's pretty good though. Matt Cameron is probably the best Pearl Jam drummer, IMHO.

anybody else notice around 6:15-6:25, you see Eddie strumming his guitar, but all you hear is the bass and the drums?
also around 4:58... he moves up the fret board, but you hear no real change in any of the guitars...
me thinks that his guitar's volume might've been down low...

pearl jam is the WORST band ever, and they're responsible for bands like Creed. i'm going to go listen to CCR and try to heal my ears.

I've seen a lot of singers do the same thing. I think part of it might be for them to be able to keep the time, especially if it's a different version than the usual song.

Love them! Thanks for the late Friday pick-me-up.

Used to feel that way until I saw an 80's Austin band, The True Believers (included Alejandro Escovedo, Jon Dee Graham, and Al's brother Javier)... those guys were like a farkin' locomotive coming down a hill.

Never actually paid that much attention to Pearl Jam, honestly. But my perception of Eddie Vedder has appreciated a fair amount since watching him as part of the Neil Finn "7 World's Collide" concert DVD. It also features Johnny Marr, Ed O'Brien & Phil Selway from Radiohead, Lisa Germano, and Sebastian Steinberg from Soul Coughing. Not a bad little pick-up band...

Is that guy on the far right trying to hold in a shiat or what?

That's a [very] good point. Thank you. :-)

Here's a couple of clips featuring Vedder from that Finn concert I mentioned:

"Parting Ways"

"Take A Walk" (one of Neil's songs)

"History Never Repeats" (an old Split Enz song) backed up by Neil's son Liam's band Betchadupa. They also did a pretty ripping version of "I See Red."

That's how I'd want to see a lot of bands play sometimes. No crazy shiat, just sitting there and playing. See if they can hack it.

it's too bad PJ have been coa$ting on the backs of their unquestioning fanatics since 2000. they were capable of so much more. bah well.

Yes, that is Jack Irons drumming.

These guys are still one of my favorite bands. Every album they release they seem to be trying something a little different and this last one just seems to be a straight up rock album.

I was thrilled with the statement made years ago that they want to be 'our' generations Grateful Dead. I have seen them a few times now and they are pretty much the only band that I will go to a stadium to see.

I love Jeremy, this version made me fast-foward to see if it was better.... it wasent.

Pearl Jam is the greatest live band in the world. If you like their early albums, you will like their latest self-titled album. They rock the fark out on it.

I also highly recommend their Live at the Gorge box cd set.

Holy shiat, I was a that show, I completely forgot about that version of the song. Nothing beats a concert at Red Rocks. Thanks for the flashback subby!

I like it. It kept the song from becoming an embarrassing singalong in 95 like how Better Man has become.

While this may be true, no one can say they haven't earned their fans' devotion. They go out of their way to make their music accessible to the masses (concert bootlegs), and their concert ticket prices reasonable. I've said it before on here, and it still applies. I've been to about a hundred concerts of various artists, but Pearl Jam is the only one that actually made me feel like I was part of something transcendent. Even though most of the people who go to a PJ show are there to hear all the songs off Ten and Vs.

On a side note, the Into the Wild soundtrack is amazing.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion -

Me, I'd say the fact that the band still tours regularly and sells albums at a steady pace, not to mention the in-house merchandise and bootlegs they sell, is a testament that they probably don't "suck" all that much.

My own experiences aside, I'd say if you can't find something you like within the Pearl Jam catalog, you're probably not actually listening.
