His friends call him Tom.

Gosh, I thought the Jon Stewart comment was merely "subby embellishment." Then I click, and there it is in the first paragraph.

That they don't want the video made public probably tells us all we need to know.

That wretched sack of schlockery
Deserves more than mere mockery
I'd turn it past ten to derision
That's if it were my decision

redshoejess 2008-01-31 11:43:08 AM
Well subby, judging by your use of the unlikely tag, obviously "You Don't Know Dick."

what_now [TotalFark] 2008-01-31 11:50:20 AM
Don't touch the Vice President, and the secret service won't arrest you.

Entorage?

Here's your "u" subby.

cameroncrazy1984 [TotalFark] 2008-01-31 11:58:57 AM
There once was a VP named Dick
Who made charges that just didn't stick.
The witness did lie
and thus Cheney's fie.
Jon Stewart did laugh himself sick.

Of course, this story will probably make it onto A Daily Show. I imagine hilarity will ensue.

Man, sometimes I hear stories like this and it makes me think that Dick Cheney might be kind of, like, you know, a jerk.

Why DID they change it to A daily show?

Writers' strike.

Shilldog [TotalFark] 2008-01-31 02:10:42 PM
Jon ("Tom") didn't think it was THE Daily Show without the writers, so he made it just A daily show.

Is the "Repor" now the "ReporT"?

I always miss the beginning...

Eh, it's a symbolic thing, but yea. The Colbert Report, hard "t" sounds for both Colbert and Report. On a few occasions, I've heard both Stephen and Jon refer to their shows as they are normally called. I figure that's mostly out of habit, though.

"Deciding which media gets it first is like deciding which part of the forest you're going to light first," Lane said. "It's going to be a forest fire. I could release it to the most responsible media organization in the world but where it goes from there is anybody's guess."

I am displeased.

Why? What do you have against Comedy Central getting first crack at it?

Howards was never charged with assault and the district attorney later dismissed a harassment charge against him.

Hey, dumbass: If you try to touch the 2nd in command in the free world, you're lucky you didn't get a 'tase me bro' moment. Christ, if you have a problem, tell him. Don't go bounding up and try to grab the guy. Seriously...Darwin let one get away.

Dimensio 2008-01-31 04:41:53 PM
I thought that the headline was a joke. It's not.

What the hell is wrong with our government? Our government needs to keep secrets because they don't want anyone ridiculing them?

Wut?

Apparently he didn't go "bounding up" or get grabby. Or else the charges would have stuck.

Their mistake was not killing him, so there would be only one side of the story.

If you have to ask, I'm guessing it might be about time to take your sarcasmometer into the shop for a tune-up.

He doesn't care about being mocked as long as we don't see the video. Rumors of evidence don't bother him. It's us seeing the actual evidence he's afraid of.

Anybody here see Mike Savage of the Savage Love column in the DC City Paper on the show night before last - he was farking funny. I'd give anything to see him on the show with Chaney and his daughter.

Chaney already has his first class ticket to hell punched anyway, so don't worry about him. His role in history will not be looked upon kindly by future historians.

He's part of all three branches. I believe in Constitutional terms he's considered a "floater".

Well, in fairness, it is a valid concern.

Here in America, we don't mock our politicians

Aeonic_Blue 2008-01-31 05:04:47 PM
So.... the upper echelons of our government greatly fear a basic-cable late night comedy news show?

That doesn't even have writers?

Although, to be fair, I can see why Cheney would be scared.. after the totally awesome show that did nothing but lampoon him shooting an old man in the face.

That's the thing about a free society. You fark up and do something illegal on a national stage and pretty soon everybody is making fun of you.
