When did Caroline break her nose? I know that when I broke mine, it didn't attract much press coverage. But, one would think that her fracture might have made a headline or two. Oh, well.

Yeah, so did Hulk Hogan.

I'm reserving judgment until Ozzy and Jack Osbourne endorse him. You know, speaking of dysfunctional dynasties and all.

Republicans have Reagan, Democrats have the Kennedys. Thankfully for us Republicans Reagan when off into the sunset. Democrats have to drag out Teddy every time they want to invoke the legacy of RFK and JFK.

so, if you get an endorsement that might swing a lot of independent-but-left voters with a prominent democratic family, you wouldn't?

I sure as shiat would. It's better than Hillary's black elvis (although having a black elvis is pretty farking cool).

The latest daily poll is out, and Obama is only trailing nationally by 4 points. Clinton was up by 20 two weeks ago.

Edward "Ted" Moore Kennedy. Might want to think through your plans a little before you stake any money on that theory, familiarize yourself with whom you're talking about and all.

I must have missed when there were Kennedy's serving multiple terms as President.

It's Edward. And I have no idea why people keep saying that, it's pretty ludicrous to imagine Teddy would be angling for the VP spot.

Ted kennedy was in town last night. I didn't go see him. I was scared I'd be the only one to show up and then I'd actually have to talk with him...again.

Wow. That's incredible. If this carries through to Feb 5th Obama could tie or beat Hillary.

And, subby, they're endorsements, they're not going to change his presidency, just get him some support within the Democratic establishment.

Unrelated question: CA already mailed in 500,000 ballots up to a month ago (which is bad for Obama). Does anyone know how many states do this?

The Kennedys are much more like the Bushes, with the exception that the Bushes have been in politics longer -- and supported the Nazis in WW II.

No one on the Democratic side is revered like zombie Reagan -- and hell, we have FDR, who was bigger than Jesus in his day, but he never gets trotted out like the rotting corpse of failed ideas that is Ronald Wilson Reagan.

Jealous?

Superjoe 2008-01-31 02:44:26 PM
I'm pretty sure Ted Kennedy has learned his place by now and isn't going for the VP seat. His failed presidency bid made him learn to be content with being one of the most powerful Senators. And it's impossible for Obama to continue running on a ticket of change with a man who's been in politics for over 40 years.

CanadianCommie: so, if you get an endorsement that might swing a lot of independent-but-left voters with a prominent democratic family, you wouldn't?

It's more to go after Clinton's base: Old, white people. Basically, people who have fond memories of JFK. Hispanics too, I guess. Not sure how Teddy is supposed to help there.

Hillary already has this locked up. One term you need to learn: Super Delegates. Hillary already have almost all of them locked up and if you add them to the delegates she has earned though now you will see that Obama was dead before he started.

I don't think he would pick Edwards, and I don't think John Edwards wants the VP slot. I think it could be Obama/Biden. Although, Obama/Bayh would be a really smart pick, but I don't see that happening.

EXCELLENT point.

/not being sarcastic; you've pointed out an important distinction -- the kennedy legacy is one that was never put into action, whereas the clintons had their hands on the wheel for 8 years and suuuuuuuuuucked

Even if he had been convicted, he'd have been out about 35 years ago at this point. They couldn't have gotten him on anything more serious than involuntary manslaughter, which just doesn't carry that stiff a penalty.

Superdelegates have NEVER changed the outcome of a race. They're a complete non-factor. They can change at any time and I guarantee they will not decide the race unless the DNC wants some very, very angry members.

If popular opinion tips in support of Obama, superdelegates will follow.

If by "almost all of them" you mean "about 1/7 of them", then yeah...

I don't know if the submitter knows anything about the 1960's but there were some pretty major shifts in policy that were made. Whether you like it or not the politicians in Washington got things done. Since the 1970's we have been unable to move the country any direction. We are falling behind and need a Washington that gets things done again.

He was saying "Teddy" is short for "Edward" not "Theodore", not that John Edwards would be Obama's VP choice.

Bill Clinton was 10 times the President JFK was. Bill Clinton actually accomplished a few things. JFK died, and LBJ did all of his dirty work and only got credit for Vietnam.

Remember Howard Dean? He was the Leader with super-delegates too. Most Supers are un-pledged, and will remain so until the primaries are over, at which point they will support the voters.

Here's a list (new window) of un-pledged delegates.

I can't see Feingold or Bayh joining Obama, they are from Wisconsin and Indiana, too close to Illinois.

The Richardson VP gives you a better east/west split, plus Obama could pick up Hispanic votes.
