That's entertainment I want to see.

I'm Paul Weller and I'm getting a kick out of these replies...

Too bad Weller will never rejoin. He's steadfastly refused to put the Jam back together. And who can blame him? I like his solo stuff, too, but The Jam will always hold a special place in my memories. "Going Underground", "In the City", "A Town Called Malice"....think I'll go put some Jam on before I crap out for the evening

Yes, the unimportant two thirds. This is like Dinosaur Jr. reuniting without J Mascis...

Because when the two of them reformed and toured in the UK for a couple of years ago it didn't count?

feta 2008-01-31 06:55:51 AM
No need!! We already have some top class Jam replacements coming out of the UK in the form of The Rifles & The Enemy!

Let's see...reforming a band without it's lead singer and principal songwriter. Uh...Ok.

Hope they aren't planning on coming over to the states, as The Jam never really caught on here (something about their songs dealing too much with British politics and our inability to relate to them).

Eton Rifles ? ;-) (new window)

Ta for the links, will have a nose about.

Would never trade but I must admit the ameican "mod" scene is just a joke. That type of music never did it for me. Too formulaic, kind of like reggae, every song has to have a certain beat, subjct, etc. I hate music fashion, mainly because im the least fashionable person I know.

Me and my 1978 Vespa P250 are Pissing on your Rascal.

/Don't get me started on the Vino's..

If you do, would recommend "Local Boy" & "Repeated Offender" both great tracks from a nice solid album.

nirwana: my 1978 Vespa P250

What the hell is that? Vespa does not make an engine bigger than 200 cc's.

I got hooked on The Jam in 1999.
I'm probably still one of the few Americans who can identify with the songs.
I used to do That's Entertainment solo at the close of my gigs. People thought I wrote it! When I broke the news they still nodded in approval. Maybe what didn't sit right with American audiences was Wellers perpetual feigned pissed-off-ness.
Maybe not.

I see I missed the local date too....thanks Subby!

dothemath who's to say nirwana doesn't have a giant-ass bored out 250cc Polini/Pinasco/Malossi kit on that P?

Possible, but as fas as I know Polini/Malossi kits will only bring it up to 210 and thats with an expansion chamber pipe. Dont know about Pinasco. I have owned Vespas/Lambrettas for 10 yrs and have never heard of a 250 kit.

I gotta say, your username is very appropriate.

Much better than my old username: dothemeth

dothemath yeah, if the 250 kit's not Pinasco it's an obscure brand they don't bother bringing over a lot like Simonini...I know they seize a lot, too. Of course, I should caution any performance accessories are illegal & the motorcycle cops will invariably notice & catch you

Makes me want to put on my Velvet Underground 'Squeeze' album...

Maybe in LA but in Texas the cops dont know/care about a bunch of dorks on Vespas. Boston, Vegas, New York as well. I know people with Vespas that will break 100 mph. Those bikes tend to run about 1 month out of the year tops, but flying by traffic in the fast lane is fun for some people.

FTJ is a great show. Russell Hastings is incredibly talented and it's a thrill to see Foxton/Buckler play!
