So... Spot on for FARK then?

Joey JoJo Junior Shabadoo 2008-01-27 10:30:24 PM
Thomas S. Monson will be ordained the president of the Church within a week or two. One of the existing apostles will be called to replace President Monson's role as president of the Twelve, and another (or maybe the same guy), as a counselor in the presidency. Then, someone will be called to serve as an apostle. And someone will replace that guy, and so on.

The more you know.

Having been to SLC, and stood on the surrounding mountains I can see how the Mormons had a religious experience. It is a very beautiful site and I can imagine having traversed as far as they did in the time period they did, I can certainly imagine it being a trancendent experience. And then, they had a huge water source to boot. Until they tasted it of course..."DAMNIT PIECE OF shiat MOTHER farkER WHAT THE HELL IS THIS CRAP?!?!?!?"

SpinStopper [TotalFark] 2008-01-27 10:54:29 PM
My folks really liked him. They even met him a couple of times while doing Temple work in Salt Lake City.

He will be missed.

You fail at originality....

SpinStopper [TotalFark] 2008-01-27 11:01:11 PM
Hinckley, like all other LDS officials, never received a cent from the church. They all hold outside jobs, and their work for the church is gratis.

Gotta respect that. Ask Oral Roberts where he got his money from ;)

Considering the fact that I spent most of my adult life as an active Mormon, yeah, I'm perfectly well aware that LDS people do not have multiple wives. The headline was an attempt to be the first to say it, with a healthy dose of self-effacement mixed in. Worked, huh?

/subby, obviously

If the leadership of other Christian sects were half as classy as this guy was, you'd hear a lot less kvetching out of everybody else.

Well, except the militant atheist true believers that hang out on the internet. They'll never shut up.

Say what you want, but he was an amazing man. Pretty much everybody who ever met him came away respecting him.

This. His kindness, generosity, and compassion were an incredible example of how to be a quality human being. I'm sure Farkers will find a way to tear him apart (there's no hate quite like misinformed Fark Mormon hate!), but he will certainly be missed.

Don't they have to decide who will fill his spot? Why Monson for sure?

I was hoping this would mean Utah would be riven with bloody wars of succession for the next 20 years, but I see in the thread that they've already got the successorship sorted.

Boring.
