Before anyone goes off on the tired nonsense about Scientology being like any other religion, remind yourself that no real church issues these kind of fatwas against those who would speak out against it.

It's a cult, by every definition of the word, and the manner in which (particularly) the Florida Republican Party continues to cater to it and send taxpayer dollars its way is nauseating.

I don't know about you guys, but I think Scientology is great. Yea, it is a valid religion that everyone should respect if you know whats good for you.

Fark the CO$ and their followers. They're no better than fundie Xitans like Pat Robertson and Fred Phelps.

I don't give a fark if someone finds the above statement offensive. Scientology has no place as a legitimate religion. Everyone else knows that the whole thing was thrown together by a shiatty sci-fi writer in an attempt to make up for his lack of writing ability.

A while back, I found out that there are no Scientology centers within 100 miles from where I live, and I intend to keep it that way.

That is some mighty fine trolling there, Lou. Hey, every single actual member of Scientology in Hollywood is a Democrat. Most of them are Democrats. The local Democrat politicians in Los Angeles and surrounding area cater to Scientology.

Are you sure? The Church and Hubbard developed a policy called "Fair Game." It essentially means that "enemies" of the church are open to any form of silence, be it a violent threat or smear campaign.

The only way to truly destroy these cult bastards is if people take action (get congresspeople and senators to do something) in getting their tax exempt status revoked, or introduce laws that would make it felonious to systematically abuse the law system.

Scientologists systematically silence all detractors by doing the following:

1. File civil complaint against someone, or an internet user in order to get their personal information by requesting a copy of the complaint/police report afterwards.

2. Use personal information found in the police report to file a number of lawsuits against that person until they are "destroyed" (See their "Fair Game Policy", which calls for them to destroy all detractors) Most people do not have the money to defend themselves against a legal onslaught, frivolous or otherwise.

3. Use personal information to harrass them at their workplace and home.

One of those ways to deal with critics and enemies of Scientology was "Auditting Process R2-45". Modern Scientologists assert that it was just an old joke. R2-45 (new window)

You missed my sarcasm. I was just parroting the standard answer for when there's bad PR. It's always people that are "coincidentally" members, never the organization itself.

You forgot the rarely used, but effective number four: falsifying information to discredit any given critic. I recall reading about a physician who had attempted to sue the church. They responded by fabricating claims of child sexual abuse, picketed his home, and "informed" neighbors of his non-existent pedophile status.

Huh? What, no. Bad farker. Bad farker. Other religions pull this. Islam, Christianity, Hinduism all do, have done or will have high ranking clergy say threatening the physical well being of a person because of their opinions is okay to do. Take this cone shaped cap and sit in that corner.

I'm sure it's been mentioned in other Scientology threads, but LRH used to be a member of the Golden Dawn, Aleister Crowley's old "club". He supposedly used to perform buttsecks magick with someone named Parsons, who LRH then stole all his money (and his boat) from.

It's in a book by Francis King, Ritual Magic in England.

He was known as a con artist back then (1950s). People have REALLY short memories.

So, I'm sure the 200th level of Scientology (or whatever "degrees" they have) incorporates things he stole from the OTO/Golden Dawn. Which just adds to the creepy weirdness of those Hollywood guys who are so into it.

/the more you know...

I sincerely hope that it was a joke by Hubbard, because... wow. That takes "crazy" to a whole new level.
