"Blackbird" is probably my favorite song. I would be interested to hear them cover that.

One song, however, is conspicuously absent from that list... (pops)

I have nothing but the utmost rspect for Grohl. His tribute album (Probot) is one of the best CDs in my collection from the past 5 years.
Grohl w/Cronos, Lemmy, Tom Warrior, and King Diamond = WIN!

TFA: While Foo Fighters' by-the-numbers arena rock has mostly made us shrug over the past decade

WTF? Aidin Vaziri must be confusing them with Creed or Nickelback or someone. And why does he refer to himself as "us"?

I've also stumbled across their covers of "Back in Black" and "Baby Hold On" as well. The Foo Fighters couldn't suck if they tried.

I was in attendance at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards where they played. They warmed up the crowd before filming began by playing Van Halen's "Ain't Talking' 'Bout Love" and the crowd just flat-out went apeshiat.

Which kind of surprised me. I'd have guessed my buddy and I were the only ones in THAT crowd that would have known any music made pre-1999.

"Baker Street" here. (pops, Youtube)

hands down, 'Down in the Park' by Gary Numan

You are so right. Love that tune.

They're version of Band on the Run made me not hate that song. Inconceivable.

That's because "their" really good.

It my supreme hope that one day the Foo Fighter's tour jet will crash into a Linkin Park tour bus. God, that would be awesome.

Ya I liked it, too bad the video and audio on that clip weren't even close to being in sync.

I'm sorry, but that version of 'Holiday in Cambodia' is awful. Where's the insane guitar solo? Why does the drummer play the hi-hat on the wrong beat? And that SOAD guy was surprisingly uninteresting. Except for the crazy eyes, I guess.

/disappointed - kind of a grohl fan.

Saw them in Dallas Wednesday. It was awesome.

They do a great cover of Cream's "I Feel Free" as well.

It's sometimes hard to beat the OG. I guess I just like the tune...the devil is in the detail.

Yeah, but you know, I just can't get into Foo Fighters. He's a great guy, great musician with an unbelievable CV, but the Foo Fighters just feel kinda like a 'novelty' type band. Dunno what it is.

Fantastic covers, though - I have their "Down in the Park" cover which is awesome. The original stuff, just leaves me cold.

Yeah, I was just going to say how Serj sounds a lot like Jello in that.

Have A Cigar is good, though I have a slightly different version from the one they offered.

I saw Serj play cover this on his solo tour, was much better than that performance although it was pretty good too.

The Foo's version of "Band On The Run" is fantastic.

They are really good in general at doing covers, but that one in particular, is awesome.

I love the cover of Never Talking To You Again. Of course Zen Arcade from Husker Du is still a good listen.

Holy carp, who did the mixing on Have a Cigar?

Dammit I hate being stuck in Buffalo, they're never gonna come here. Toronto yes, Crappalo, not so much.

Not the biggest FF fan, but I loved their cover of Prince's Darling Nikki. Even better to see Prince return the complimnent by covering "The Best of You" at the Superbowl last year

Even better to see Prince return the complimnent

The details are hazy in my mind, but wasn't there some kind of issue with Prince having his panties in a bunch over the Foo Fighters cover? Something about recording it without his permission maybe?

man that link is farked seven ways from Tuesday but when I got in they omitted this (possibly because no video footage exists), and a moment I was actually in the moshpit nursing a cracked rib for. I'll let the NME take over...

Later that night, though, he will for no apparent reason invite Queen's Roger Taylor onstage to join the Foos in a two-drummer cover of 'Sheer Heart Attack', complete with drum solo 'duel'. Grohl will appear to enjoy himself immensely. Roger Taylor will wear trainers so blindingly white that a generation of Foo fans are in danger of having their vision irreparably damaged.

Yes, Dave Grohl in a drum battle with Roger Taylor. It was awesome as well

Now That's What I Call a Taco!: Wow. Keep the Car Running might be even better than the original.

Good, yes. Better, no. Win's voice just fits the song so much better than Grohl's, but he wasn't bad. Just wasn't as good.

/Arcade Fire w/ David Bowie - Wake Up (new window)
//not a cover, just damn good.

Late to the party- saw the foo a little while back. LOVED the concert!
I have to add, I also love their cover of Danny Says (pops) by the Ramones.

I don't know about better, but I'm suitably impressed. I have no love for the Foos, although I can't say I hate them. They just never impressed me.

But still. That was a pretty righteous cover.
