The Miss America contest has come pretty low. It used to be a big deal, and you knew it was coming up every September. When the first place you read about it happening is FARK, you know it is shrunken in relevance. Of course, the fact that I remember its past that clearly marks me as someone who used to wear an onion on my belt.

She's very cute and all (even with the Sharpie brand eyebrows) and I wish her well in life... But who judges these things nowdays, and on what criteria?

Maybe she has an awesome personality and did amazing on whatever talent portion they have and she won based on that rather than her generic "cute blond" looks. I wouldn't know-- I sure as hell am not going to watch the pageant to find out.

We must grow them hot here in Farmington Hills, considering the 2007 and 2006 Miss Michigan both hail from here. One tradition hhere is to have Ms. Farmington Hills (her former title) take a picture with the current Mayor and hang the 11x14's in City Hall.

Ironically, our new Miss America's photo hangs directly across from the bathrooms(???).

Our city's entrance signs also include a additional sign stating "Home of Miss Michigan 2007" right above the "Home of Miss Michgan 2006" sign.

I had not watched the Miss America pagent since the 80's, but I turned it on last night after watching TLC's Reality Check for a month, where they kept telling the girls that to win Miss America you had to be more real. Less make up, more originality, less big hair, sequins etc... the girls who were real (Alaska, Rhode Island, Utah)didn't stand a chance last night. The judges went with the same outdated women again. I won't tune in again. I just wish Utah could have taken a few of them out with her.
