This doesn't really surprise me. I don't think Kucinich would make a very good SecState, though, which is the only Cabinet position that wouldn't place him at odds with Paul.

Any way, while I support Paul, I agree it's unlikely he'll win at this point. He could still grab up enough delegates to have some fun at the convention, though, particularly since he's finally bringing in some campaign people who know what they're doing to help him spend all that money. If his campaign hadn't been so mismanaged, he could have done a lot better.

/looking forward to voting for him on the LP ticket
//and the next Ron Paul Republican in the 2012 primaries

Ron Paul used to really annoy me, now it's just dated.

I listened to an episode of Alex Jones yesterday (for research). I swear to God, a good 40% of that show is just nutbags calling in to drool over Ron Paul and swear they saw police driving through their neighborhood in a tank shooting every house with a Ron Paul yard sign and arresting babies.

9.99999% of people have never even had the chance to run for president. Ron Paul is doing something right.... twice... Hate on him all you want, he's smarter than you. And me. And he's probably not as big of a douchebag as your candidate.

9.99999%? Couldn't you have just rounded to 10?

I am sure Ron Paul is intelligent. I am also sure Michael Behe is intelligent. And David Ray Griffin. And Jim Jones. And Chariman Mao. But their intelligence doesn't make them right. Their arguments must stand alone for themselves, and in my book Ron Paul's arguments are in the same categories as those aforementioned men.

Hey, the fact that he's been kicking the ass of "Mr. 9/11" so far has made it all worthwhile. Watching the candidate that all the networks were predicting was an easy win only a few months back be beaten by the long-shot they won't even mention is a sweet tasting irony.

What a choice :

Kucinich has done nothing for "his" district in 11 years .

Combine that with his "ability" to cause City of Cleveland to go bankrupt in his first only 2 year term as mayor and

now on Mrs denny III - half his age - twice his height and in need of a green card and

picture complete

big mouthed , achieve nothing , blame everyone else 62 year old pre teen Joke

Surely Paul can pick a/any name out of phone book and do better .

This isn't surprising at all. He's said before he likes Kucinich's stance on foreign policy, and from what I understand Kucinich is a big Civil Liberties guy.

While he is of slight build, he has a certain firey attitude when need be, and a hot wife to boot. Imagine, Russia: "Dude, America, we're so gonna nuke you." Kucinich: "Let's just be cool, and look at my hot redhead wife." Russia: "True dat. Hey, you guys have legalized drugs now right? Mind if we come over? We'll buy the pizza!" Kucinich: "Coo, see ya in a bit." The end.

... Sorry, it's late.

Anyway, Paul can still do better - hell he came in 2nd in Nevada, and he's beating the everloving shiat out of Giuliani thus far. I still think the problem is name recognition, a great deal of people who I talk to have never heard of him.

Ultimately, we very well may have a brokered convention. With Paul's grassroots support, it's entirely possible he could walk away with the nomination at convention.

Yawn, goodnight.

It's too late. If he'd had some people around who knew how to spend that money, he could have been a contender. He didn't, though. I wouldn't be surprised if he picks up a few states (or if he's already won Louisiana), but they'll only be so many delegates left to win after Feb. 5th.

People don't like Ron Paul because they're terrified of what it means if he's right. They're terrified to wake up an realize that they've been getting farked in the ass for forty years by the Crips and Bloods (Dems and GOP). They're terrified to come to terms with the fact that Democracy is a sham, that their rights have been eroded, and that freedom means some people fail. They're terrified to believe that corporations really do own the politicians and the country as a whole.

It's like a rape victim with Stockholm syndrome. Not only do you deny it happened, you have a crush on your attacker.

That's why Ron Paul is unpopular - he tells you the things you don't want to believe. Because if they're true, you'll HAVE to do something about them. Americans are afraid of change and even more afraid of the truth.

I'd be terrified that the national budget would consist of only 10 million dollars with: 25% Going to Miss Cleo-Kucinich's Department of UFO Seances. 25% Going towards intelligence in locating the real terrorist threat in the U.S., the sleeper cell of Vinz Clortho, Zuul, Gozer and of course the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. 25% Going to overturning Roe v. Wade. 25% Going to improving the wagon wheel and other relevant 18th century inventions. But oh how I want to believe.

It's like a rape victim with Stockholm syndrome. Not only do you deny it happened, you have a crush on your attacker. = If that was a metaphor then your talents are weak, but if that was psychic intuition then the force is strong with you because that's actually the back story to how I met my wife. Oddly enough that is also how my mother and father met back in Vietnam.

Honestly though I think Ron Paul is a decent guy but everything seemed to go down hill for me after he walked on water and just before he climbed up on that cross.

And I don't think RP's effect will be on the same level as what Goldwater did. He could do for the GOP what Goldwater did for politics as a whole, though. Particularly with the coming implosion of neoconservatism.

inTheJungle: When are you Paulies going to realize that a good proportion of America does not want what Ron Paul offers?

That would make sense if not for the fact that the only people who know what Ron Paul offers are those who get political news online- in other words, about ~20% of people. Given his campaign's massive failure to run an effective ad campaign, and the (not necessarily malicious, but still real) lack of media attention, that only leaves the debates for the other 80%. Ron Paul's failure to win is not indicative of some massive rejection of what he's offering. If that was the case, you wouldn't see the other GOP candidates wrapping themselves up in similar sounding rhetoric on several issues.

Unfortunately, it's a 30% not shared by the rest of the Republican party. Perhaps the "Paulies" want them to include it in future elections.

Personally, I hope there is a brokered convention, and that somehow Paul holds more delegates than the difference between the top two candidates. It would be hilarious to see them try to get his support in order to secure victory

/Though even with such support, if Obama is the candidate, whoever the war-apologist candidate on the Republican side is will probably be defeated. That really sucks for people who like divided government, though.

That's not true. His name recognition is higher than that. Some Paulie gave me the figure in another thread a couple days ago, but it's above 50%.

Given his campaign's massive failure to run an effective ad campaign, and the (not necessarily malicious, but still real) lack of media attention, that only leaves the debates for the other 80%.

Here we go. "It's a conspiracy!" "There's a Fifth Column!"

Ron Paul's failure to win is not indicative of some massive rejection of what he's offering. If that was the case, you wouldn't see the other GOP candidates wrapping themselves up in similar sounding rhetoric on several issues.

Like what? What other GOP candidate is saying any of the following:

End the drug war
Unlimited free trade (but to do that, we need to repeal NAFTA)
Withdraw from the UN
Abolish the Fed
Gold Standard
Immediate closure of all overseas military bases
Immediate retreat from Iraq

The only things that they agree with him on are things like abortion, which RP didn't push them into thinking, they already thought previously.

Face it. RP offers policies that most Americans do not want. That's his problem. Even if I think that a couple of them are reasonable (end the drug war, unlimited free trade), the problem is, most of America doesn't agree with them.

heres an idea, if we dislike ron paul but are unable to find a flaw in his ideals lets just brand him as "crazy."

While were at it lets leave the country on a path towards being the ultimate nanny state, creating unrest with the youth who will ultimately turn in their passports and give their tax revenues to other countries.

It's really the oldest trick in the political book. Use the media to paint a man as "crazy", and his message is also now painted with the same crazy brush. Yet, "the people" continue to fall for it.

Just vote for the guy that you've been told to vote for (or the guy with the best hair) and shut the fark up already.

Yeah! Stupid naive children that believe in democracy! We should all just vote for whichever party we think is going to win anyway!

Serously, say what you will about the internet Paul apostles, but Ron Paul is easily the best republican candidate running.
