Good stuff! My favorite part is the dorky dancing.

Played their version of Auld lang Syne on New Years.

What a hack band they are. Seriously, a bunch of "safe" musicians playing slightly fast. I can't imagine better proof of the death of punk rock. Playing Bar Mitzvahs is the right place for these schmucks.

Wow, thats was some good random hate. Good job downtownkid.

'I can't imagine better proof of the death of punk rock.'

That it took anyone who claims to like the genre until the 21st century to realize that saddens me? You were OK through Green Day and Sum 41?

Didn't love them at all, but at least they tried to fake it. Me First have specialized in speeded up cover versions of pop songs. They are The Monkees without the talent.

BTW, I decompressed from the awfulness on that video by cranking up some Discharge.

If ever there was a band with nothing to say, it would be these shmoes. Didn't we live through enough faux-ironic pop covers in the 90s?

My old cover band used to play a ton of Jewish weddings, and we had a redneck version of Hava Nagila with a train beat. They always loved it.

Jewish weddings are some of the best parties around.

/except for that one where the bride and half the room was Korean
//awkward

Except they all have their own talented bands (Foo Fighters, NOFX, Lagwagon, and The Swinging Utters) and do this for fun.

By the way, they play weddings too.

Good God, if I had a nickel for every time some self-important twit said "Punk Rock is dead." I'd have a lawn to tell you kids to get off of.

Punk is nothing more than a bunch of talentless hacks looking for the right gimmick and milking it dry.

Wasn't one of their members in Minor Threat and Bad Religion? Brian Baker I think.

Wow, a lot of people with incredibly shallow taste in music here.

Duhktape they all have their own talented bands (Foo Fighters, NOFX, Lagwagon, and The Swinging Utters

Depends on your definition of talent, I guess. I don't think much of those other bands either.

mouser_inc ummm ever think that maybe that is their gimmick?

Yes, dumbass, I was criticizing them specifically for being a gimmick band. Duh.

suicide Me First The Ramones have specialized in speeded sped up cover versions of pop songs.

Do you really have no understanding of the different contexts the Ramones and Me First exist in? That the Ramones were completely revolutionary when they started, and Me First is doing the same thing, without even any original tunes, 30 years later? Pathetic.

redface Humor has no place in music!

Humor can be a lot of fun in music. My complaint is that these guys aren't funny or original, and the same thing has been done dozens of times before. I dislike these guys in the same way I dislike Dane Cook or Carlos Mencia, and would claim that those two are excellent parallels to the talent level and originality demonstrated by Me First.

Etc. etc. I'm not playing the "punker than thou" game. These guys claim to be punks, yet are diametrically opposed to everything punk stood for. I think it's pathetic, that's all. You like em, have at it. Plenty of room for mediocrity in the world.

The ramones were copying Alvin and the Chipmunks.

SKA-T73 Agreed. I should acknowledge their other bands. Something about the side gig just rubs me the wrong way.

Spike's got a hell of a voice when he actually tries.

sozelle 2008-01-29 01:54:25 AM
That was friggin' awesome, and the whole clan was really into it (except for those two old yenta-types). May be I should start trying to get The Cure or Siouxsie Sioux, or, even better, NIN booked by the time my kid turns 13. THAT'd really show 'em who's who!
