Third pic in google images. Great Christmas movie.

Wow what a timely story, way to strike while the iron's hot.

Hoban Washburne 2008-01-27 02:16:26 AM
Also, judging by his later career, that wasn't the last thing the kid put his tongue on.

And they weren't even altar boys?

Idiots, they already proved it could happen on Mythbusters.

Damn you, Hoban!

Lets hope they try to disprove it and end up losing the front of their tongue cuz those morans won't know how to safely get it separated...(lots of warm water)

Did that as a kid licking frost off a refridgerator. Not stuck but ended up bleeding. Never seen the movie. Still can't drink hot chocolate, only lukewarm because of that. Sigh.

dvpierce 2008-01-27 02:22:29 AM
You know, it's actually kind of encouraging that the adults are being cool about it. Nobody freaked out, sued the school, or got expelled.

Yay common sense.

I thought for sure that someone set out to show the ricochet of a Red Ryder-fired BB off an old refrigerator 20ft downrange would have insufficient energy to break glass lenses after the return trip.

Actually, I kinda doubt that one myself. Would it really bounce back with that much force?

Since when was "mythbust" an acceptable verb?

It's always bothered me how many people are too stupid to realize that warm water will fix this without injury.

So many people panic over superglue too, when all they need is a little bit of acetone or nail polish remover.

Then again, the people who would get themselves into these kinds of situations aren't likely to be the brightest of the lot in the first place.

Here's an olde-tyme classic:

Wait for a -20 day, then get your entire asscrack soaking wet, then sit down on a railroad track, making sure your nutsack makes full contact.

Great laughs for the whole family!

I'm so sorry, but this made me LOL.

verstohlen 2008-01-27 03:41:57 AM
Kids have been doing this for years. I did it as a little kid way before this movie came out and discovered this little painful fact all on my own. It was a metal handrailing though, not a flagpole. Nothing beats life experience!

Not the only one; after watching it for about the 10,307,211th time it really loses its charm.

You've really got to see it the 10,307,212th time before you can really appreciate it.

LOL Nice one WeeKeef
"I decided to try it because I thought all of the TV shows were lies, but turns out I was wrong,"

Why do parents tell their children this? Some things you see on TV or in movies ARE TRUE.
That Pizza guy thing in pornos, not true.

FTFA-"The nurse asked them, 'OK, who double-dog dared who?' But they weren't admitting to what they did and said they just bit their tongues," Billie Dempsey said. "When she told me there were a couple of layers taken off, I thought, 'Oh no, he's on flagpole duty.'"

Miss Shields: Now I know that some of you put Flick up to this, but he has refused to say who. But those who did it know their blame, and I'm sure that the guilt you must feel would be far worse than any punishment you might receive. Now, don't you feel terrible? Don't you feel remorse for what you have done? Well, that's all I'm going to say about poor Flick.

Ralphie as Adult: [narrating] Adults loved to say things like that but kids knew better. We knew darn well it was always better not to get caught

I like the Zeebarf cartoon with the kid stuck to the pole and his buddy about to unstick him with the only source of warm liquid readily available. Wish I could find a copy to post.

Oznog: I thought for sure that someone set out to show the ricochet of a Red Ryder-fired BB off an old refrigerator 20ft downrange would have insufficient energy to break glass lenses after the return trip.

I'm not completely sure it would do more than chip glass lenses at 20 feet of direct flight, let alone 40ft with ricochet.

You're not alone. I can't watch more than 5 minutes of it at a time. Listening to small children whine and cry throughout an entire movie makes my head hurt.
