Holy shiat. Anvil.
The Fredo of old-school metal.

El Freak: Greenlit? Seriously??

I'll take it! Besides, the lyrics are cheesy enough to go with the whole "real life Spinal Tap" thing from the link above.

For those inspired enough to put their beer down and sing along:

Anvil - Metal on Metal

Metal on metal
It's what I crave
The louder the better
I'll turn in my grave

Metal on metal
Ears start to bleed
Cranking it up
Fulfilling my need

Metal on metal
Shakin the place
Blows back your hair
Caves in your face

Metal on metal
Feeling the grind
Up go the hammers
A victim to find

Metal on metal
Heads start to bang
Denim and leathers
Chains that clang

Keep on rockin
Keep on rockin
To this metal tonight
Keep on pounding
Keep on pounding
Join the heavy
metal fight

Metal on metal
Gets you so high
Excitement and action
Won't pass you by

Metal on metal
The hardened breed
True to the end
A fire to feed

Metal on metal
Heat starts to rise
Kickin it out
With screams and cries

Metal on metal
Never will die
Parties and concerts
Keep it alive

Metal on metal
It's the only way
To hell with tomorrow
Let's live for today

Holy crap, they are Spinal Tap but...more. They are more tap than Tap.

If you watch it all the way to the end you get a shot of the "singer"'s bald spot. Pure icing on the cake.

Uh, where's the audio? My system is working fine. Even when I turn the volume up, there's nothing.

Ever hear the sound of a truckload of aluminum trash cans running into a truckload of live ducks?

It's kind of like that only not as melodic.

do I care that my headline sucked? Not really. Here's a better Anvil anyway.

Thanks for posting this, subby. I've known these cats for 25 years; they're really great guys and their music is really... well, did I mention that they're really great guys? Looking forward to seeing the movie, though. Anvil still has the best "Greatest Hits" album title ever: BACKWAX.

Wow....WOW....WOW.

Worse than I ever could have imagined. And any self-referential music automatically gets suck points off the bat. If you have to tell me what kind of music you are playing, you are doing it wrong.

The most heinous offender is country music.

At Sundance this past week, they premiered "Anvil! This is Anvil": a full-length documentary about the band's struggle to keep the music going. I was at the premiere of the film, and it was one of my favorites at the whole festival.

What amazed me is you spend the whole first half of the documentary thinking to yourself, "No, this can't be real..." the film comes off as a modern-day version of Spinal Tap with no-talent managers and paltry crowds at each show. But then it sinks in that these ARE real guys, busting their asses to keep the dream alive. In their 50s, but still hoping for that big break...
You've got to admire their persistence.

I can't believe this is real. I know it's real, but damn!!! Like radioberlin said "They are Spinal Tap." Wow man, just wow.

Well country is just dumb asses, metal bands parody themselves for humor. As as I've seen.

Ah, well... no loss then.
