He is no different from any of the other candidates, none of them care about voters.

Once you have voted, they wouldn't care if you got hit by a bus outside the polling place.

Knowing Mitt, tomorrow's headline will be: "Romney Deeply Concerned About the Voters"

Car_Ramrod 2008-01-25 08:06:10 PM
I can assure you I'm not concerned about Romney, either.

Goodnight, mormonman.

Lionel Mandrake: Knowing Mitt, tomorrow's headline will be: "Romney Deeply Concerned About the Voters"

Exactly.

In other words, a typical politician response.

My father-in-law put it best when he told me, "the problem is that there are no Statesmen left, only politicians".

FormlessOne 2008-01-25 08:12:07 PM
Heck, the voters are practically superfluous to the process, what with vote caging, manipulation of electronic and paper votes, and outright discrimination - it's a wonder they bother with the whole process of pretending to count them these days.

I had an interesting discussion recently with a complete stranger regarding the freedom to vote in a non-partisan manner - realizing that we've so taken the two-party system for granted that the idea of voting for a person, instead of a party, is passe. What's worse, that's how both parties like it.

Not that I'm a fan of Mitt, but the quote was sort of taken out of context, but unfortunately it sure came out as a sound bite.

Mitt's the next GOP nominee, haters. But the Democrats will win. Unless they nominate Hillary. Which they will. So they won't.

President Romney. Get used to saying it.

Yea, completely out of context.
I was watching when it happened and it is clearly not what he meant.
However I would rather vote for an inanimate carbon rod than Plasti-Mitt.

FTA: "But I can tell you this: I've raised more money than any other Republican in this race - raised more," he added. "Friends of mine have come together, people I knew in high school and helped raised money for me."

Um, isn't most of that money his own?

Great. At least four years of the Plastic President. That man is nothing but a walking PoliticBot programmed to say whatever will get votes of the Standard Republican Voter. I don't think I've ever encountered someone who just comes off so entirely fake.

Falcc 2008-01-25 10:44:21 PM
It's not like it's grossly out of context or anything. He was saying that he's not willing to reveal his campaign finance situation until he's legally required to in order to keep voters uninformed. It's not like he didn't mean what he said, he just didn't mean to say it.

If Obama gets the nod it won't matter who the GOP throws at him but gods let it be Romney. The man would get whipped.

WorldCitizen [TotalFark] 2008-01-25 10:46:57 PM
Yeah, and I saw the debate. As much as I dislike Plastic Doll, the quote when in context was not offensive to voters.

Thats what he meant.

Ron Paul? I'm not a Paul supporter but he clearly cares. Kucinich too.

He is a a concise speaker. Something the liberal media and their sound bites love.

Well, Paul's slogan is pretty catchy!:

And Obama's not fake? His entire campaign has been based around his carefully crafted public persona. He's might be more convincing than Romney, but he's just as fake.

Anyone who makes it in modern American sound bite politics isn't going to be the most authentic person ever. That's really more the fault of the short attention spanned, shallow, uninformed voting (or non-voting) American public. However, at least I have seen where Obama has sat down with people and had free flowing discussions that were very "normal," laid back, and seemingly coherent real answers to their questions. Anyone have any footage of Romney doing this? I sure haven't seen any signs of this yet.

Just out of curiousity what do you find fake about Obama? Because he's charismatic? With Romney he has a solid record of changing his position to whatever suits him at the time.

Mitt Romney is a slick used car salesman, groomed into a corporate goon.
How many people are going to vote for him because he "looks so... so presidential"? Tools.
He's flip-flopped 100% since 2002, and doesn't have a sincere bone in his body.

This should be good for at least a week's worth of breastbeating on CNN and stunned reporters overcome by the vapors at the terrible insensitivity of the man.

Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for the siimilar firestorm over Hillary telling the Mexican ladies to bring their brooms by the White House. Hmm, come to think of it, right here on Fark is the only place I've caught any refernce to that at all.

/Maybe The Papers are waiting to watch her help Bill chase the Republican moneychangers out of the temple.

So you're blaming America for not being able to choose a real candidate? There were a couple on the Democratic side. Honest and filled with integrity. They got no support. The establishment wins again. Your best hope is Edwards. At least you've seen him making himself pretty for the audience.
