Nah..it's not the kiss of death; it was expected. It was expected that the NYT would endorse Hillary also. Way to go out on a limb there NYT!

Fart_Machine 2008-01-25 05:24:30 PM
It was obviously a cunning plot by the NYT to remove the last electable Republican candidate from the race.

Ah, the bravery of conservative Republicans. They stand firm in the face of every travail except the endorsement of the New York Times. Tough guys, every one of them.

God forbid the Republicans run a candidate who isn't absolutely hated by moderates and liberals. Because you just know that pissing off half the country is the mark of strong leader.

They suggested, prior to the Iraq invasion, that it might not go so well and might be a boondoggle for American taxpayers.

What? They can print foreign news in their own newspapers, just like we do. It's not like they are writing people in the US to lobby for their chosen candidate! (pops)

No, Republican partisans hate the NYT.

And the Washington Post broke Watergate, not the NYT.

It makes me shake my head in wonderment that these mightie righties can be so quick to abdocate their own thinking; but then I look in the mirror and see that all it would take for me to vote for the other guy is to hear the other guy's oponent is backed by Limbaugh, Coulter, Malkin, etc.

Alphax: Meanwhile, those of us on the political left have long wondered what's so liberal about the NYT.

It's all about creating a false dichotomy and redefining yourself in order to redefine your opponent. You see it in a lot of Murdoch's stuff. Take Fox News for example. They make up whatever they want, then define themselves as fair and balanced, which makes everyone still reporting actual news objectively "take a massive turn to the left". Same thing with the New York Post. Make shiat up and say everybody that doesn't go along with it is part of the conspiracy. You just redefine yourself, and attempt to drag the "middle" with you. While in reality you haven't changed anything but yourself, gullible people that seek to be "moderate" above all else will lose sight of factuality and race for the false "middle ground".

The most befuddling thing about Limbaugh and Hannity is the way they rant and rail against the "librul media" for hours a day. Meanwhile, they never adhere to basic journalistic standards. They don't even make a pretense of being "fair and balanced." Maybe they know that if their audiences understood what real news was, ratings would suffer.

Are you farking kidding me?

The NYT, like the rest of the American media, was leading the pro-war cheerleading and intelligence fact-fudging in the months leading up to the war.

Liberal media, my ass.

Nice strawman.
As one who tends conservative, I honestly couldn't care less who the NYT decides to endorse in the Republican Primary. Let's look at each of the candidates on their own merit and pick from there.
I find it funny that the Guardian claims that this will piss of Republicans, but provides nothing to back it up. And to Fark's credit, it is assumed to be the God-sent truth. And the conservative bashing begins.
It might just be that the Guardian is pulling this "news story" out of their arse.

Head over to the RedState.com post on the topic. The folks who commented are plenty mad about this endorsement. Now, I'm not saying they speak for all Republicans, but for you to imply that this is something the Guardian dreamed up out of thin air is flat out wrong.

Why bother with code words? Yes, Marxist Jewish propaganda machine betraying our country into fighting Zionism's wars.

Why would you expect people who are on the far right and whose job it is to promote right wing views to claim to be "balanced"? It would just be obvious lies. Do you expect Michael Moore to preface his movies with a statement that he values Republican and Democrats equally?

Thats what the NYT does, its editorial pages are filled with long rants about how evil Bush is but they make a claim of being nonpartisan. Or at least, dont acknowledge their clear political spin.

Not at all, I think your confusing your political parties my friend, its the Democrats who have openly anti-semitic leaders (Carter) and the Republicans who are much quicker to support Israel. Why Jews are so predisposed to bloc vote Democrat is beyond me. Try to find out something about the crazies online who call people they are mad at 'jewbags' and you'll find they are mostly pot smoking hippy libs. If I had a dime for each time people asked me to give those people second chances cause they were high....

randomjsa 2008-01-26 03:17:26 AM
Well, the fact that McCain supports amnesty for illegals along with quite a few other "Please come here now and in greater numbers" packages for them, his opposition to tax cuts, and his name on McCain-Feingold... that also might have something to do with his endorsement by the NYT and conservatives distaste for him.
