IMO there's more to it than just proving that some muslims need to calm down. proving that the threat of violence can't be used to get their way is more important.

Why blame the victims? The fact that a movie has the potential to result in violent unrest in a European country should be cause for alarm. If there is a riot the fault will lie squarely with those who riot. The "incitement" comes not from the movie but from those who implicitly or explicitly condone violence as a correct or even understandable response to the expression of an opinion.

One problem with your logic though... If he doesn't show it now then he will - in truth - prove that threats of riots DO work, and only encourage more violence.

I've been to Holland, visiting relatives. The Dutch are so far to the left (relative to America) on virtually every issue except immigration. Geert Wilders is not some fringe politician. He has major public support, and his views on immigration are not uncommon.

Frankly, it's hard to blame the Dutch. Immigration hasn't done them any favors. All the problems in the red light district? Never any crime before Moroccan immigrants started peddling hard drugs and stealing bikes, etc.

I don't have many conservative views but this movie should be aired.

I went to Amsterdam after 9/11 (3/02) and got lost & couldn't figure out those damn complicated European phone booths. Of course since I'm an ignorant American alone in Amsterdam, I walk around to try and find a store that will sell me a phone card in English. The majority of the film, I guess, is supposed to show the intolerance and inherent tendency to violence in Islam. The part with the burning of the Koran is supposed to incite Muslims to violence so people can see it first-hand.

Yeah, I'm uncomfortable with the idea of inciting any group of people to violence, but any group that's so easily offended should probably be made to get used to being insulted.
